Bar Soloveychik, a member of the Israel Swimming Federation, has made a verbal commitment to swim for the University of Minnesota in the fall of 2021. A distance swimmer, his times, converted from the SwimSwam Time Converter, in the 400 and 1,500-meter freestyles would have been number 2 and 1 respectively on the current Gophers’ roster behind current junior Cameron Kelly.

At the 2019 Israelian Short Course Championships, Soloveychik won a bronze medal in the 400 SCM freestyle (3:47.82) and a silver medal in the 1,500 SCM freestyle (15:14.13). At the Swim Cup Amsterdam meet, he took 4th place in the 400 and 1,500 LCM freestyles (3:53.94 and 15:34.87 respectively) and 5th place in the 800 LCM freestyle (8:08.00).

With his converted times, Soloveychik would have placed 9th in the 500-yard freestyle prelims and finished in 8th place in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the 2020 Big Ten Conference Championships. He will join fellow distance swimmer Chris Morris as well as Andrew Garner, Jackson Brown, and Nathan Griffin, as members of the Gophers’ class of 2025.
