Minneapolis Grand Prix Meet Information Unveiled

USA Swimming still hasn’t released a finalized schedule for the 2012-2013 Grand Prix Series (they say to look for it in about two weeks), but they have put out details for the most imminent stop: the Minneapolis Grand Prix that will take place in November on the University of Minnesota campus.

The meet will run November 9th-11th, and will return to their traditional short course yards as it historically has been in non-Olympic seasons.

The meet will be kept small; with a cap set at just 600 swimmers (100 fewer than the 700 allowed last year, which resulted in more than 100 entries in most events). That cut will probably reduce each prelims session of the three day affair by somewhere around 45 minutes.

For full details on the event, click here (revised with new standards on October 11th). Keep in mind that points earned in Minneapolis (where over 30 National Teamers participated last year) go toward the overall series standings, which awards a big (yet unannounced) cash prize at season’s end.
