Liam Boomer from Eaton Rapids, Michigan, has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Northern Michigan University beginning in the fall of 2022.

A senior at Mason High School, which is in the Lansing area (about a seven-hour drive south of NMU in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula), he specializes in fly and free. At last year’s Michigan High School Division 3 State Championships, he placed 3rd in the 100 fly (50.48) and 8th in the 200 free (1:45.03). Both were lifetime-best performances.
Boomer does his year-round swimming with South Central Swim Club in Battle Creek. He competed at Huntsville Futures at the end of 2021 long course season and notched new PBs in the 100 back and 100/200 fly. Two weeks earlier, he had picked up new best times in the 50 back and 50 fly at Geneva Sectionals, finaling in both the 50 fly and the 100 fly.

The GLIAC only scores an A final and a B final, but Boomer’s 100/200 fly times are already fast enough to make the B finals at the conference level, and he is only a second off in the 200 free and about 2 in the 100 free.
Boomer plans to study pre-med at Northern Michigan. He will join the NMU class of 2026 with Kyle Griswold and Logan Robillard.
