Michael Andrew Lowers His 100 Butterfly NAG Record From Last Weekend

Michael Andrew is on a mission. After lowering his 13-14 National Age Group record in the 50 freestyle from 19.86 to 19.76, he dove back in the pool to lower another 13-14 NAG record. Last weekend he broke 4 different NAG records: 200 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and the 100 butterfly. His 100 butterfly time last weekend was 47.40, but he managed to lower it again tonight!

Today at the NASA Junior national cup meet in Clearwater, Florida, Michael Andrew lowered his 100 butterfly record to 47.23. This was his third swim of the evening. He posted a 1:59.63 in the 200 breaststroke before breaking his first NAG record in the 50 freestyle.

With almost a full month remaining before he ages up, be on the watch for more national age group records to fall.

Maybe a little off topic but has anyone purchased the USRPT DVD’s?

Yes Michael Andrew is a 14-year-old kid but I think we must stop consider him like a normal kid who breaks records. He is a professional swimmer while other kids of his age are not. It’s very hard to compare. He puts the NAG records at an insane level and most of them will last a very long time but again, hard to compare. Swimming is a job for him. That takes nothing away from what he actually does. He’s a phenomenal young swimmer who goes very fast. I just wanted to place things in context.

Crazy!
47.23 after a 200 breast and a 50 free!
Very impressive!

Is butterfly becoming his best stroke?
I think so.

I hope he can continue this success Long Course. He’s getting to the level where SCY is less important…

I was like “Oh, NCAA’s are coming up soon, so things will probably be quiet on the Michael Andrew front!” But thankfully, I was wrong. If I have to choose between hearing about 12 relay DQ’s in one day or a wicked fast 14 year old, the choice is easy.
