Night two at the Missouri Valley Swimming Division I Championships, and a second National Age Group Record for Michael Andrew in Topeka, Kansas. After breaking the 11-12 100 free record on Friday night, he then took down the 50 breaststroke on Saturday.

This time, it was his own record he broke with a 27.46. That crushes his old mark of 28.09 set late last year. The 2nd-fastest swimmer in history in this event is Christopher Miller in 28.24 from all the way back in 1994. That’s a huge margin.

In other swims on the night, Andrew swam a lifetime best in the 100 fly of 52.86. That leaves him only a second away from Chas Morton’s National Record in that event, and makes a slight improvement on his #2 ranking in the age group’s history.

He also swam a 21.89 in the 50 free. That’s not his best time (he’s got the 21.85 National Age Group Record), but he’s now consistently going 21’s in the event.

And don’t look now, but Michael’s little sister Michaela has really hit full-form too. The 10-year old won the girls’ 50 free in 28.60, which is easily the fastest time in her still-short swimming life. It doesn’t break any records, but is the Missouri Valley LSC’s fastest time this year in the 10 & under age group.
