Miami (OH) Women Take on Bowling Green and Marshall

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s women’s swimming and diving squad will compete on a meet on their own for the first time this season, taking on Bowling Green and Marshall in a tri-meet on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center.

The Red & White women are coming off an action packed weekend where they faced Purdue and Xavier, losing to Purdue on the road (174-124) and beating Xavier at home (180-82).

Izzy Herb excelled, winning three events and taking second in another. She was victorious in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.64) and 200-yard butterfly (2:05.81) against Xavier and won the 100-yard backstroke (56.54) at Purdue.

The other standout was Notre Dame transfer Ella Moynihan. She finished the weekend with four first-place finishes and two second-place finishes. Against Purdue on Friday, Moynihan was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.06) and took silver in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.62). On Saturday against Xavier, Moynihan led a Miami sweep of the 1000-yard freestyle (10:10.33). Her time was 21 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

The Falcons are led by Matt Ense, who is in his second season as the head coach. Bowling Green is 1-0 as they defeated their rival Toledo, 196-95. They will travel to Xavier on Friday before matching up with the RedHawks on Saturday.

Fourth-year head coach Bill Tramel is at the helm of Marshall’s program. The Thundering Herd are 3-2 on the season, defeating Saint Louis, Arkansas-Little Rock and McKendree and losing to Illinois and Michigan State.
