Miami (OH) Women Swim Past Toledo In A 185-77 Decision

Miami’s women’s swim team traveled to Toledo to take on the Rockets on Sunday afternoon. They move into the spring semester with a 7-3 dual meet record after their 185-77 victory over Toledo.

The RedHawks started off their impressive win with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Carolyn Jungers, Elise Campbell, Izzy Herb and Grace Van Fossen led the way, clocking in at 3:53.33.

Miami found themselves with a 1-2-3 finish in the 1000-yard freestyle. Shay Spelman led the way (10:34.68) with Claire Doerr(10:37.93) and Julia Campbell (10:38.47) behind her. The first Toledo finisher did not clock in until 10:47.73.

The Red and White had two more gold-silver-bronze finishes in the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle. In the 200 fly, Izzy Herb captured the win (2:05.11) with Morgan Quesnel (2:09.78) and Macey Neubauer (2:10.23) in second and third places. In the 500 free, Ella Moynihan was victorious (5:02.13) and Emma Bradley (5:03.57) and Molly Zilch (5:10.46) backed her up for the sweep.

Moynihan also won the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:52.88. Peyton Mosbaugh took third in the event with a time of 1:55.31. Mosbaugh won an event of her own in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 56.80, with Herb in second in 56.98.

Herb won the 200-yard backstroke, timing in at 2:01.68. Jungers placed third in the event, clocking in at 2:05.61.

The team of Abby Stone and Grace Van Fossen was successful in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. In the 50 free, Stone won the event (24.68) and Van Fossen touched the wall in third (24.84). In the 100 free, Stone took silver (53.50) and Van Fossen took bronze (54.13).

Holly Schuster took home a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.32) and second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.59). Stephanie LeMire placed third in the 100 breast (1:06.06) and Elise Campbell finished third in the 200 breast (2:26.54).

LeMire was victorious in the 200-yard IM, clocking in at 2:09.56. Neubauer placed second in the event, touching the wall in 2:10.68.

Brittany Dudzinski landed a win of her own in the 100-yard backstroke, timing in at 58.06. Maureen Sullivan touched the wall in third with a time of 59.18.

The day ended as it began, with a relay victory. This time, Dudzinski, Moynihan, Stone and Van Fossen led the Red and White to the win in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.80).

The women will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 28 at home against Ball State at 1 p.m.
