Megan Bestor, Butterflier/Backstroker Verbals to UNC

Megan Bestor from SwimAtlanta’s St. John’s site and Lambert High School has verbally committed to the University of North Carolina.

Bestor has bests in yards of 55.57 in the 100 back and 54.83 in the 100 fly. That dual-threat ability makes her just the type of swimmer that Rich DeSelm has had really made a focal point of his program in the last few years with swimmers like Carly Smith, Katie Nolan, and Rebecca Brooks, among others.

Bestor seems to be tending a bit toward the backstroke as she heads toward her senior season of high school. She placed 3rd at the Georgia High School State Championship meet last year in the event, plus 5th in the 100 back, and led off Lambert’s title-winning 200 medley relay that stands as the 8th-best time in state history.

The John’s Creek site of SwimAtlanta, headed by Jeff Hike, has now sent one swimmer to either coast: Bestor to North Carolina, and Katie Grover to UCLA.
