Blazevski was strong at the finish, helping him to get under the 2:03 mark. The 23-year-old holds seven Macedonian records, and his national mark in this event previously sat at 2:03.65 from this same Greensboro Sectional meet back in 2014.

He holds the 400 IM national record at 4:23.51, while Gorazd Chepishevski holds the 100 back Macedonian record at 59.72. Blazevski could break that backstroke record, as he’s entered with a 59.95 which is well within striking distance.

The Greensboro Sectionals will continue with finals tonight at 6 PM (eastern time), with another two days of competition set for Saturday and Sunday. Check out our recap of night one here.
