Manley Leaves Ontario Swimming Academy

Less than a year after leaving his post as the Performance Coach at the Derbyshire Institute of Sport to take over the newly formed Ontario Swimming Academy (OSA) it has been announced that Andi Manley will be leaving his position in Canada due to family related issues. Manley will attend his last meet with the OSA at the beginning of August when they travel to the ASA Summer National Championships in Sheffield, England.

Swim Ontario launched the Ontario Swimming Academy on October 1st, 2015. The academy was created as a residential program for teenage athletes who are seen to have the potential to be top 50 in the world or better. The program trains out of the Pan Am Games Pool in Scarborough (a suburb of Toronto) while athletes attend the West Hill Collegiate.

Manley was chosen to head up the newly created program after he achieved success working with Molly Renshaw, before she joined the National Performance Centre at Loughborough University and Abbie Wood, who won a gold in the 400 IM at the 2015 European Games.

“We would like to thank Andi for his many contributions this season,” said Darin Muma Interim Executive Director, Swim Ontario.

Swim Ontario will now be looking for Manley’s replacement, “Swim Ontario, in conjunction with our performance partners, is fully committed to the Ontario Swimming Academy program.  We are currently conducting an extensive search for a coach with a proven track record in developing swimmers to the podium at Junior World Championships/Youth Olympics, European Junior Championships or to the Olympic finalist level.”

“We hope to have a new OSA Head Coach in place as soon as possible.”
