Madison Memorial and Monona Grove Start WI Boys HS Season Ranked 1st

The boys high school swimming & diving season has kicked off in Wisconsin, and with that come the first polls of the season from the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches’ Association (WISCA). The pre-season polls were released a week ago, and week one’s polls (released yesterday, Sunday the 18th) show 2016 champions Madison Memorial and Monona Grove at number one spots in their respective divisions. Madison Memorial competes in Division 1, while Monona Grove does so in Division 2.

Last year’s Division 1 runner-up Madison West has moved up from their #4 spot in pre-season to currently tallying enough points for 2nd behind Madison Memorial, with Arrowhead and Middleton following right behind in 3rd and 4th, respectively. In Division 2, Monona Grove continues to lead by a landslide over the rest of the Division, with Elkhorn Area jumping nine spots in the polls to #2. Pulaski is a new listing, coming it at number 10 in Division 2.

RANKINGS METHODOLOGY

The weekly WISCA polls are computer generated and based on the WISCA Top Times database.

The polls are generated at midnight each Sunday. Individuals are scored in their top two scoring events only.

Points are awarded as follows:
Individuals: 1st Place – 30 points – 30th Place – 1 point (1 point increments)
Relays: 1st Place – 60 points – 30th Place – 2 points (2 point increments)
