Madison Floyd, Isabella Penkwitz Give Pair of Verbals to Navy

The Naval Academy women have brought in 2 new verbcal commitments from the state of Florida, as Madison Floyd and Isabella Penkwitz have both announced their intentions to swim for Navy in the NCAA.

MADISON FLOYD:

Floyd currently trains with the Blue Dolphins swim team in Oviedo, Florida, and will head to Navy next fall after graduating from Oviedo High School. Her best events are the 50 through 200 freestyles, as well as the 100 fly and 200 fly.

Last season, Floyd was a 2-time finalist at the FHSAA 2A State Championships. She picked up a pair of 6th place finishes at that meet in the 200 free and 100 fly. Her 200 free time of 1:50.94 was a new lifetime best. Floyd then went on to compete at the 2015 Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (East), where she swam a personal best 55.90 in the 100 fly.

ISABELLA PENKWITZ:

Penkwitz currently trains with the Sarasota YMCA Sharks swim team in Sarasota, Florida, and will head to Navy next fall after graduating from Booker High School. At Navy, she’ll bring depth for the team in the butterfly and IM events.

Last season, Penkwitz qualified to swim both the 100 fly and 200 IM at the 2015 Florida High School 2A State Championships. There, she finished 4th in the 200 IM and 11th in the 100 fly. Later in the season, she went on to represent SYS at the 2016 YMCA Short Course National Championships. Her highest finish there came in the 200 fly, where she finished 22nd overall.

  • 400 IM- 4:30.29
  • 1650 free- 17:22.87
