Louisville Cardinals Keep the Momentum Flowing as Florida’s Sophie Cattermole Makes it their 4th Verbal This Week

The University of Louisville Women’s Swimming and Diving Team has had a successful recruiting season so far with the recent verbal commitments of Clara Baggett, Emily Moser, and Mallory Comerford. Now Sarasota YMCA Sharks’ Sophie Cattermole has added her name to the list of future Cardinals with her verbal commitment to join the 2015-16 squad.

Cattermole, a senior at Lemon Bay High School, is the Florida State 2A champion in the 200 IM (2:00.39) and runner-up in the 100 free (50.50). But the 5’10” talent is incredibly versatile, and should be able to fill in just about wherever the Cardinals need her. At short course YNats last March, Cattermole was top-eight in every event she swam: 1000 free, 400 IM, 500 free, and 200 IM. She excels at the longer range of the event spectrum but still has 100 speed, which is good news for Louisville’s relays.

100y back: 54.89
200y back: 1:59.30
200y IM: 2:00.39
400y IM: 4:16.38
100y free: 49.95
200y free: 1:47.29
500y free: 4:45.26
1000y free: 9:50.75
200y breast: 2:14.61

Cattermole will be an outstanding addition to the Louisville squad in their second season as a member of the very competitive ACC conference. She would have made either the B or C final at 2014 ACC Championships in every single event above, with the exception of the 1000 free which they don’t swim.
