Longhorn Legacy Anelise Diener Verbally Commits to University of Texas

Anelise Diener from Streamline Aquatics has verbally committed to the Texas Longhorns. She will have a short trip to college, as Austin is only about an hour Northwest from her native San Antonio.

Diener will follow in the footsteps of her mother, who also graduated from the University of Texas.

“I’m excited to follow in her footsteps,” Diener said of the decision. “I chose Texas because I got along really well with the girls. (Head coach) Carol (Capitani) and (assistant coach) Roric (Fink) are incredible coaches. I felt like I fit in with the atmosphere at Texas. I can’t wait to spend the next four years as a Longhorn.”

Diener is primarily a sprint freestyler with yards bests of 23.37/51.20/1:53.35 in the 50/100/200 yard freestyles.

Texas head coach Carol Capitani, from her years of experience at Georgia, knows that while it takes a well-rounded team to win an NCAA title, the foundation has to be a strong freestyle group, and Diener is another piece to go in that group in the Texas recruiting class of 2015.

While many of the swimmers are versatile in other strokes, also joining the Texas freestyle core next season are:

Diener swims for Alamo Heights High School, where last year she placed 2nd at the Texas 4A (small schools) state championship meet in the 50 free and was part of the title-winning 200 free relay and 400 free relay- including anchoring the 4A record-setting 200 free relay that swam a 1:36.39.
