Logan Samuelson, Class of 2014, Commits To Auburn

Logan Samuelson, a standout from the state of Florida, has committed to swim for Auburn University! Samuelson is primarily a distance freestyler. He was the 2012 Florida High School 2A State Champion in the 500 freestyle. He also finished in fourth place at the 2012 Winter Junior National Championships in the 500 freestyle and placed ninth in the 1500 meter freestyle at the 2013 Summer Junior National Championships.

His best times will make an immediate impact for the Tigers. In the 2012-2013 season, Samuelson’s times of 4:22.89 in the 500 free, 9:10.29 in the 1000, and 15:29.29 in the 1650, all would have done well for the team. He is right with Auburn’s second and third 500 freestylers at 4:22 and his 1000 time would have been faster than any of their distance swimmers last season by more than two seconds.

Logan currently swims for Swim Florida and is coached by Mac Kennedy. He will be a very strong addition for Auburn. He will have to help fill the shoes of All-American Zane Grothe. This will be Grothe’s last year of eligibility. Grothe holds the school records in the 500 freestyle, 1000 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle.
