Lisa Bratton, Luke Kaliszak Named Top SEC Scholar-Swimmers

Texas A&M senior Lisa Bratton and Alabama senior Luke Kaliszak have been named the 2018 SEC Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Bratton, a member of the USA Swimming National Team, is majoring in ocean engineering and carries a 3.71 cumulative GPA. Bratton is the vice president of Omega Epsilon, the ocean engineering honor society, a 2-time team captain of Texas A&M, a 10-time All-American, and a 4-time SEC Champion.

Bratton’s best finish at this week’s SEC Championship meet individually so far is a 3rd-place finish in the 100 back (51.10), with her best event hte 200 back yet to come on Sunday.

Kaliszak is pre-med at Alabama with a 3.975 GPA. He’s a team captain and in 2017 earned First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. He earned an NCAA title in 2016 as part of Alabama’s 200 medley relay and took a 2nd-place finish in the same event in 2017. In total, he also has 10 All-America honors and is the Alabama school record holder in the 100 yard fly (45.18) and ranks 2nd in program history in the 100 back (44.56).

Kaliszak was 9th in a very-competitive 100 fly field at this year’s SEC Championships, in spite of being 45.94 that ranks him 16th in the country this season, and placed 2nd in the 100 back in 45.68.
