Liam Bell Ties for #9 All-Time in Boys 17-18 100 Breast – 1:01.19

18-Year-Old Liam Bell, representing US-Aquatics Club, won the men’s 100 breast at Speedo Junior Nationals tonight. Bell, soon-to-be a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide, came into the meet with a personal best of 1:02.16, then posted a 1:01.49 in prelims, which ranked as #12 all-time for 17-18 boys. In finals, Bell lowered his time again to 1:01.19, which now ties him for #9 all-time with Andrew Seliskar. He was out quick, hitting the 50 wall in 28.49.

Here is the current all-time top 10 for 17-18 boys in the 100 breast:

  2. Reece Whitley (2017) – 1:00.08
  3. Kevin Cordes (2012) – 1:00.47
  4. Jacob Montague (2016) – 1:00.68
  5. Carsten Vissering (2015) – 1:00.86
  6. Devon Nowicki (2016) – 1:01.06
  7. Max McHugh (2018) – 1:01.09
  8. Nic Fink (2012) – 1:01.14
  9. Andrew Seliskar (2015)/Liam Bell (2019) – 1:01.19

17-Year-Old Ben Dillard finsihed 2nd (1:01.97), 18-year-old Kevin Houseman was 3rd (1:01.98), and 17-year-old Maxwell Reich was 4th in 1:02.37. Houseman is currently 12th all-time in the age group with his personal best of 1:01.46, while Dillard’s time was a personal best ranking him 22nd for 17-18 boys. Reich is 35th all-time with his swim.

You’re missing Caspar Corbeau (Tualatin Hills Swim Club) in your list. 1:00.68 this weekend at nationals.

We’re just following USA Swimming’s lead on this one. They haven’t recognized his swim in their age group rankings either – I assume because he represents another country internationally, even though he is a USA Swimming member and a dual citizen.

He’s been on four different clubs. Never really found the right fit until this past year.
