Chad le Clos and Vladimir Morozov sit tied for the Cluster 3 points lead on the World Cup series, with Le Clos still holding a commanding lead in overall points. Sarah Sjostrom has a 111-point lead overall and a 24-point lead in Cluster 3 on the women’s side.

That’s after a Beijing World Cup stop that is third-to-last on the tour. The series will wrap up this week in Tokyo and Singapore.

Each world record yields 20 points. Tying a world record is worth 10 points.

I know there was a lot of issue with the new World Cup format. Folks were talking about how dumb the new rules were, particularly the limitations on events and the pass through to the finals of top competitors. That being said, the events are in their final stages and it seems to me this is the most successful World Cup in years. More folks are staying on the circuit longer and there are real races in terms of who will win the overall and cluster titles, things that haven’t happened in the past.
