Lars Green Bach Begins Post as Danish Swimming’s High Performance Manager

Lars Green Bach was hired to take over as the new the new High Performance Manager of Danish Swimming after Mikkel von Seelen resigned from the post in December. Green Bach now takes over the implementation of Danish Swimming’s development plan leading into the 2016 Rio Olympics.

His job will entail making sure that the federation, clubs and coaches are all on the same page. He feels that the most important part of creating that co-operation is clear communication, “It is important for all organizations that you are clear on what it is you want,” Green Bach told Swim Sport.

He wants to make sure that the coaches know that they are an integral part of the process when it comes to the success of Danish Swimming, “Swimming coaches are an important part of Danish swimming – I know those I work with will have good solutions to common challenges.”

His biggest focus will be on ensuring that the young swimmers in the country develop the skills needed to achieve success at the highest level of swimming, “From my point of view it is important that we together – coaches, clubs and swim union – are ambitious in relation to the skills that are in Danish swimming.”

“We know from lots of national and international studies that competent skills at all levels can help to make a difference.”

After being on the job for a two week period Green Bach has analyzed the challenges he has ahead of him and is excited about doing what is necessary to create a successful development system within Danish Swimming.
