On the women’s side, Lakeside was led by 13-year-old Charlotte Crush and 18-year-old Mariah Denigan, who contributed 100 and 116.5 points, respectively.

Crush, the younger sister of National Junior Team member Annabel Crush, had an extremely strong showing in the 13-14 age group, winning all 5 of the individual races she contested, along with multiple relays.

Individually, Crush kicked-off her weekend by winning the 13-14 100 butterfly in a time of 1:01.27. With her performance, Crush dominated the field by over 5 seconds, coming within .06 of her personal best. Crush completed the butterfly event sweep by winning the 200 butterfly by over 10 seconds. In the event, Crush swam to a time of 2:20.18, coming just off of her personal best of 2:19.46.

Crush also swept the sprint freestyle events, earning gold in both the 50 and 100. In the 50 freestyle, Crush posted a new personal best of 26.91 en route to victory, dipping under 27 seconds for the first time. Later, in the 100 freestyle, Crush cut almost a second off of her best time to claim first overall in a time of 58.76. In both events, Crush won by wide margins of 1 second and 2 seconds, respectively.

In her final individual event of the meet, Crush posted a 1 second drop in the 200 IM to claim victory. Crush swam a time of 2:22.25, improving upon her previous best of 2:23., while winning the event by 8 seconds.

Crush also contributed to Lakeside’s winning 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay. On the 400 free relay, Crush split 59.81 to lead her team to a final time of 4:01.28, while in the 200 medley relay, Crush split 27.23 on the butterfly leg to help the team to a time of 2:04.71.

Denigan, the 800 freestyle silver medalist from the 2019 Pan American Games, also won several events throughout the weekend. Notably, she did not contest any distance freestyle events besides the 400 freestyle, electing not to swim her strongest events.

In the 400 freestyle, Denigan finished 1st by a wide margin, posting a final time of 4:18.24. Although she was about 6 seconds off of her best time, Denigan still won by over 4 seconds.

Denigan also won the 200 backstroke and 200 IM. In the 200 backstroke, Denigan touched in a time of 2:18.20, coming less than a tenth off of her best time and over 4 seconds ahead of the field. Denigan won the 200 IM by a similar margin, touching in a final time of 2:21.00 for the victory.

On the men’s side, 15-year-old Noah Benton from Lakeside had several top-10 finishes, including a win in the men’s 200 breaststroke. In that event, Benton cut a whopping 6 seconds off of his best time to finish in 2:27.02, claiming first place by about a second over the field.

Benton also had a runner-up finish in the 200 IM, where he posted a time of 2:13.34, cutting 4 seconds off of his personal best. He later followed that up with a 4th place finish in the 400 IM, with another big drop. In the 400 IM, Benton posted a final time of 4:49.78, dropping over 10 seconds to go under the 5:00 minute barrier for the first time. Notably, this included a 1:22.62 split on the breaststroke leg, the fastest split in the entire field.

Benton also contributed to Lakeside’s 2nd place 200 medley relay, where he split 32.12 on the breaststroke leg to boost the team to a final time of 1:48.80.
