Lacourt Pulls Out of French Open, Citing Ongoing Hip Pain

French national team member Camille Lacourt, who swims for Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille, has dropped out of this weekend’s French Open in Vichy because of ongoing pain in his hip. The same injury kept him from competing at the Mare Nostrum stages in Canet-en-Roussillon and Barcelona in June.

On his Facebook page, Lacourt explained his decision:

I regret to announce my withdrawal from the French Open at Vichy. My hip is still painful and I’m continuing to treat it in order to have the opportunity to swim at the European Championships in Berlin.
Good luck to the French swimmers and keep your fingers crossed for me.

Lacourt qualified for Euros in the 50 and 100 back at the French National Championships in Chartres last April. The 32nd LEN European Swimming Championships runs from August 13-24, 2014 in Berlin.

The French Open takes place Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5, in Vichy.

Fresh news.
He’s resting until the end of July.
And, at best, will only swim the 50 back in individual and perhaps the medley relay prelims in Berlin.
