Kylliainen & Kneppers break school records to open Louisville Invite

The Louisville Cardinals are kicking off their post-season with a home invite, the Louisville Invitational, and already two school records have fallen.

Tanja Kylliainen broke the school’s 200 IM record and Andrea Kneppers took down the 500 free mark, according to the Louisville Swimming Twitter account.

Kylliainen, a Finnish national and one of the team’s most versatile swimmers, went 1:56.22, taking a tenth of a second off the school record she set last year at the AAC Championships.

Kneppers, meanwhile, went 4:44.24 in the 500, cutting more than a second off the 2013 program record set by Abbie Houck.

Full results of the meet aren’t yet available, but we’ll have a more full recap to come. The meet runs through Sunday night.

Louisville is just starting to heat up before their ACC Championships debut. The Cards compete in the championship meet in their new conference starting next Wednesday for the women and the following week for the men.
