Kylie Stewart Downs Pelton-held NAG Record

After watching Simone Manuel clip a Dagny Knutson NAG record earlier in the evening, Kylie Stewart decided to join the party on night 2 of 2013 NCSA Junior Nationals.  The 16-year-old from Dynamo Swim Club in Atlanta, GA destroyed the rest of the field in the 200 backstroke, clipping Elizabeth Pelton’s 15-16 NAG record from 2010 in the process.

Stewart touched first in 1:50.66, just under the old record of 1:50.72.  Janet Hu was 2nd in 1:53.43, and Tara Halstead was 3rd in 1:53.89.  This is likely the last chance for Stewart to lower the record; she turns 17 at the end of this month.

Astonishing swim from Jones.
The NCAP boys set a new 15-18 4×200 free relay NAG record just now with a 6:31. Seliskar lead off in a 1:35.3 which is pretty close to the 15-16 individual record.
