2016 Olympian Khader Baqlah raced to a first place finish in the 200 fly B final at the Greensboro stop of the Pro Swim Series on Thursday in a 2:01.43. The swim was fast enough to cut .19 seconds off his own Jordanian National Record in the event that he set back in May at the Atlanta Swim Classic.

This morning, Baqlah swam a 2:03.28, which got him a place in the B final, where he surged to the top of the heat. His B-final time would have been 5th in the A final. The top four finishers in the race were Luca Urlando, Matthew Fenlon, Carson Foster and Jay Litherland, in that order.

Baqlah is currently a senior at the University of Florida. He has competed at 3 consecutive NCAA Championship meets and swam on the school record-setting 400 and 800 free relays. The free/fly specialist also currently holds Jordanian long course National Records in every freestyle event, the 100 fly, the 200 IM, and as part of 400 free relay and the 800 free relays.

Baqlah also raced the 100 freestyle tonight, finishing 12th overall in 50.44. His National Record in that event is a 49.10 set at the 2018 Asian Games.
