Apple TV has announced a new docuseries “Greatness Code” that is set to highlight the careers of 7 different superstar athletes. American swimmer and world record holder Katie Ledecky will be one of the athletes featured in one of the first season’s episodes.

The series is co-produced by Lebron James‘ Uninterrupted brand and Tom Brady’s Religion of Sports media groups.

The show will include James, Brady, Ledecky, soccer star Alex Morgan, sprinter Usain Bolt, pioneering surfer Kelly Slater, and snowboard legend Shaun White. Each episode will specifically focus on each athlete individually to show why they have managed to reach the top of their respective sports.

Ledecky certainly has a long list of achievements in swimming, just like her co-stars do in their own sport.

Ledecky exploded onto the scene at the 2012 London Olympics, where she won the 800 freestyle and broke Janet Evans‘s longstanding American record in the event. All this at just 15 years old.

The accomplishments do not stop there. She has won 5 Olympic golds, 15 World Championship golds, and holds the world record in the 400, 800, and 1500 freestyle events.

The series is set to premiere July 10 on the Apple TV Plus streaming service. Apple doesn’t publicize official subscriber numbers, but industry analysts estimate the number of subscribers at between 10 million and 33 million, with many of those having been gifted to people with Apple devices.

I don’t know anything about snowboarding or surfing, but I don’t think Alex Morgan is the best of her generation in the same way that Lebron, Brady, Bolt and Ledecky most certainly are.

Although in terms of media exposure etc she definitely is up there. Which is probably why she was chosen for this I guess.

I think that’s probably true. That being said, she is a team captain, and her team is certainly dominant at a level of Brady and Lebron, the other team sport athletes chosen. So, in that regard, as a leader of one of the world’s most successful national teams in any team sport, she probably fits. Not exactly the same, but maybe an interesting trade on the perspective, if the episode is approached the right way.

Kelly Slater was the #1 ranked surfer in the world at the end of the World Surf League season 11 times, and is generally considered the best professional surfer in history.

Shaun White won the halfpipe in 2006, 2010, and 2018 and has the most… Read more »
