Josh Prenot and Michael Weiss Absent from 400 IM Prelims

2017 U.S. NATIONALS/WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS TRIALS

In the last heat of the men’s 400 IM today in Worlds Trials prelims, Josh Prenot of Cal and Michael Weiss of Wisconsin Aquatics did not show up to race. Prenot was seeded 5th with a 4:14.19, while Weiss was seeded 7th with a 4:15.21.

After missing the top 2 last night in the 200 breast, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist in that race Prenot will look to other events to make the 2017 Worlds roster. He has the best shot in the 200 IM, where he’s seeded 2nd behind Chase Kalisz. Prenot is also seeded 4th in the 100 breast, though that race is stacked with a lot of top talent.

Weiss, meanwhile, only has the 200 IM left on his event schedule for the meet. He already swam the 100 and 200 free, placing 20th in the 100 (49.64) and making the 200 free B final to end up 16th (1:48.94).

Kalisz and Jay Litherland, meanwhile, were the top two prelims swimmers heading into finals.
