Johansen Named World Championships Diving Team Head Coach

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — USA Diving announced today that Indiana University head diving coach Drew Johansen will serve as head coach for Team USA at the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

The competition will take place July 24-August 2.

Four athletes on Team USA are currently coached by Johansen, including current IU student-athletes Jessica Parratto and Michael Hixon. Parratto will compete in the platform and synchro platform events, while Hixon will represent the U.S. on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard.

Also making the World Championships team are former IU student-athletes Amy Cozad and Darian Schmidt. Cozad will compete on the platform and partner with Parratto in the synchro platform competition. Schmidt will dive in the 3-meter springboard event.

The four Americans are not the only divers with Hoosiers ties that will be competing at the World Championships. James Connor, who enters his sophomore year as the reigning Big Ten champion on the 3-meter and platform, will represent his native Australia at the meet, while former Hoosiers diver Emad Abdelatif will dive for Egypt.
