We are also looking for an Assistant Coach for our Top National/National Prep Group. This individual will work closely with our head coach.

Essential Job Tasks include:

Alpine Hills, a private Tennis and Swimming Club located in Portola Valley, CA.,  is looking for an Aquatics Director to oversee all areas of our Aquatics program, including swim teams (PASA year round and PSA summer league), master’s swim program, hydro-fit, recreational swimming, lap swimming, swimming lessons, pool rentals, aquatic related special events and other aquatic programs designed to improve member enjoyment.

 

The Director must have great people skills, and be friendly and outgoing at all times.  He/she would assist in budget and aquatics schedule preparation and be responsible to General Manager, Board of Directors and Swim Committee to meet and exceed budget goals, and enhance member satisfaction. The Director would be responsible for coaching and managing overall coaching for the PASA year round swim program. He/she will assist in the development of special events; develop contracts and hire instructors and staff as needed for the program areas. Oversee and monitor all department billing, payroll, and expenses to align with budget. Select, hire, supervise, train and evaluate full time, part time and seasonal staff. Prepare newsletters, reports, emails and handouts, used to communicate to member and non-member aquatics participants. Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, members, and the public using principles of good customer service. Ensure that facility and equipment are always safe and well maintained, while putting the highest priority on safety issues in and around the pool.

Aquatics related skills required:

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures used in developing and implementing aquatic programs for the needs of all age groups.
  • Ability to coach swimmers in proper technique at various levels; competitive swimming background desired, but not required.
  • Maintaining pool equipment, front and back of the house, and water quality. Meeting successful periodic inspection from town and county pool inspectors.
  • Able to work effectively in a non-profit environment that includes the swim committee, board of directors and club volunteers.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions to order supplies and materials; process paperwork as required to bill for services, pay invoices, and complete monthly P&L. Assist in the preparation and administration of program budgets; monitor program revenue and expenses to stay within budget.
  • Principles and practices of hiring, supervision, evaluating and training of staff.
  • Know and understand all aspects of the Aquatic Directors job; reports and special projects; Implement and coordinate recreation and/or programs suited to the needs of the club membership. Interpret and explain program policies and procedures. Maintain records, monitor budgets, and prepare written reports. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Job Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Aquatics Manager/Supervisor/Director.
  • Ability to engage and motivate a large range of swimmers, while always being friendly and outgoing.
  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguard and Coaches Safety Training Certification.
  • Able to help create a culture that draws people to our pool and facility.

Director of Competitive Swimming, Head Coach – TYDE Swim Team

GENERAL FUNCTION

The primary role of the Director of Competitive Swimming is to provide excellent customer service to TYDE swimmers and parents while managing the swim team and guiding the development of quality swim team programming at each of TYDE’s 12 sites. This role will include hands-on coaching, management and direction of assistant coaches and coordination with YMCA Aquatic Directors and staff. The expressed goal of TYDE is to offer swim team programming to swimmers of all ages and ability levels, with the goal of continuing the strong reputation that TYDE has created within YMCA, NC & USA swimming.

TYDE BACKGROUND & HISTORY

Established in 1973, the Winston-Salem YMCA Swim Team (WSY) has been a consistent force in swimming in the Triad. Notable achievements included multiple YMCA National Top-3 Team finishes, regular Junior & Senior National and Olympic Trial qualifiers and consistently high performances at NC Championship Meets. After expanding as an association swim team, the rebranded and retooled YMCA of NWNC Riptyde (TYDE) began in 2009 and has grown to encompass 12 sites and over 700 swimmers and has achieved Bronze Medal status as well as Level-4 Club Excellence. With a staff of roughly 30 Full and PartTime Coaches, TYDE serves swimmers from developmental through National levels.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly coach (at least) one primary training group within the TYDE National Track (or otherwise as agreed) and exclusively handle all needs of that/those group(s).
  • Direct the TYDE leadership team with managing the Swim Team program including preparation and implementation of progression curriculum, seasonal plans and practice plans focused on development of competitive skills as well as teamwork, work ethic, goal orientation, positive attitude and core values.
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, develop, schedule and direct coaching staff and volunteers for all TYDE sites, as needed.
  • Develop and execute strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Accurately seek out, summarize, communicate and enter all swim meet information for the entire TYDE program, and communicate final details to parents in a timely, professional manner.
  • Assist in development of program budget and monitor it to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Work with Aquatics Directors across the association to deliver a top quality TYDE program, including scheduling pool times and cross-promotions of programs.
  • Perform or delegate team admin duties as needed, including but not limited to, team registration, team communication, team store and website maintenance.
  • Facilitate or delegate event management roles in all TYDE hosted swim meets and other special events.
  • Assist in the retention of existing members and engagement of new members by informing them of the YMCA of NWNC programs, including Safe Start, lap swimming, swim lessons, swim team, other aquatic teams and group exercise classes.
  • Build effective, authentic relationships with community partners, parents and program participants and neighboring swim teams and YMCA’s.
  • Assist in creating, targeting and distributing program marketing information.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends.
  • Know, understand and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  • Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina policies and procedures.
  • Attend all staff meetings, monthly in-services and trainings as required.
  • Assist in the identification of active volunteers for the Annual Giving Campaign.
  • Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina in the home branch and its programs.
  • May supervise YMCA Aquatics program at the home branch.
  • All other duties assigned by Management.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree
  • Previous 10+ years swim coaching experience required with at least 5+ years in a head or leadership capacity.
  • ASCA level 3 Certification (or equivalent).
  • Current USA Swimming Coach Certification in good standing.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
  • Current YMCA Swim Coach or USA Swim Coach certification required.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification required.

About MOR:

This position reports to the SCLSC Board of Directors and the Sports Performance Committee. We operate out of the Burlingame Aquatic Center on the campus of Burlingame HS, and we work in conjunction with the City of Burlingame and its Parks & Recreation Department.

Job Overview:
Burlingame Aquatic Club is seeking a full-time Head Age Group Coach (HAGC) for swimmers ages 18 and Under. The HAGC reports directly to the Head Coach (HC). The coach’s primary duties are (1) to assist in the successful leadership and management of the swim team, and (2) to lead successful, focused workouts, assist swimmers in setting and achieving goals throughout the season, and regularly attend swim meets. Practices are offered 6 days a week; meet commitments average 2 weekends per month. The HAGC has regular administrative duties that total an average of 10-12 hours per week. The HAGC is a key partner in working with the HC on program development and strategic planning.

Duties Include:
• Work with the HC to develop the overall philosophy and structure of the Age Group Swim (AGS) program
• Participate in the development of the annual schedule for all swim groups, including practices, meets, and coaching schedules/assignments
• Coach multiple AGS training groups as designated by the HC, in addition to assisting with other groups as requested
• Assist in hosting all BAC home swim meets; serve as meet director for a minimum of one home CBA meet each year
• Oversee the move-up process for all swimmers and training groups
• Serve as the primary contact for the service hours coordinators to ensure that all service positions are filled as needed
• Oversee the upkeep of all AGS program website content, including but not limited to group schedules, program news, team records, athlete awards, etc., as requested by HC (HC will oversee web content development)
• Oversee the timely scheduling and completion of all tryout requests
• Serve as the head coach for the BAC Summer Swim Team (SST); duties include but are not limited to setting practice/meet schedules, hiring assistant coaches, organizing events, and marketing the program to the community
• Lead communication to all families and swimmers within the HAGC’s designated training groups
• Regularly participate in BAC social media to promote team events and updates
• Assist and support HC in chairing/leading social events for the team, with assistance from team parent volunteers; assist in promoting social events to all team members and families
• Assist in developing and leading all AGS fundraising campaigns, helping to incorporate assistant coaches and all athletes/families
• Assist HC in developing and implementing education programs for both swimmers and parents in the AGS program
• Assist in the design, selection, and ordering process for select team equipment and apparel
• Attend any Board, Zone, and League meetings as requested by HC
• Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
• Maintain current certifications as required for the position
• Be prepared to recognize and respond effectively to emergency situations, including emergencies that may happen in non-AGS programs
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a career-minded coach who is organized, personable, dependable, and able to communicate effectively with parents, young athletes, and co-workers alike. This person must have a strong background in competitive swimming with at least 5 years of USA-S club coaching experience, and be able to effectively evaluate and implement training philosophies. ASCA Level 2 certification or higher strongly desired. Strong administrative skills are necessary, including competency in Microsoft Office, Team Unify, and Swim Connection. He/she must be able to provide constructive criticism to assistant staff as needed. The ability to set both individual and program goals and to then develop a path to achieve those goals is crucial to success in this role. This coach must have demonstrated familiarity with LSC and Zone operations. Regular email, phone, and in-person communication is required, so professional and friendly communication skills are important. Attention to safety and professionalism must be present at all times.

Hours and Location:
This is a full-time position that includes both on-deck hours as well as office hours for program administration and development. Consistent on-site office hours will be established with the HC to ensure regular contact with other staff members and sufficient time for collaboration.

General Summary:

Assist the Head Coach in the recruitment, counseling, conditioning, training and coaching of a varsity team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.

Assist in the organization and direction of all activities of a varsity sport.

Assist in the recruitment of prospective athletes to the University.

Coach team members individually and in groups, demonstrating techniques of the game.

Counsel and advise student athletes with personal or academic problems.

Report to one broad area of specific responsibility, as assigned.

Make position assignments and determine areas needing improvements.

Assist with development of contest strategy.

Serve as Head Coach in his/her absence.

Assist with summer camps and fund-raising activities.

Perform related departmental duties as required.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required.

Knowledge of sport rules, conference rules, appropriate training techniques, and winning play/contest strategies, for assigned sport.

Three years previous college coaching experience within the sport is desirable.

Lost Creek Aquatics (www.lostcreekaquatics.com), the third largest club in South Texas Swimming, has just expanded into a fourth location and is seeking assistant swim coaches to work with all age groups at each of our locations, and coaches to conduct dryland sessions for all age groups. LCA is currently building a state-of-the art facility in the Westlake area, which will generate additional opportunities for coaches to work with swim lessons, masters programs, triathlete training, water polo, diving, and other aquatics programming. Our program has swimmers of all ages and abilities—from summer league rookies to Olympic Trials qualifiers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current USA Swimming coach credentials or the ability to become certified within two weeks of hire
  • One to two year’s minimum competitive coaching experience with a USA Swimming member club
  • Competitive swimming experience as an athlete is preferred
  • Experience working with Team Unify is preferred
  • Ability to travel to swim meets
  • Passion for the sport and for working with swimmers of all ages and abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude

Hours are afternoons, Monday through Friday, during the academic year, plus Saturday mornings. Most positions are 20-25 hours per week.

The Dunlap Dolphins Swim Team (DDST) has an opening for a Head Coach to lead our team in the pursuit of excellence in the sport of swimming. DDST is a non-profit, year round competitive swim program founded in 1998. The team is run cooperatively between the Head Coach and the elected Board of Directors. Comprised of 125 to 135 swimmers, the team ranges in age and ability from Novice through Junior National qualifiers, and a recently named All-American.  This is a great opportunity to be a part of a growing community and team.

Applicants for the Head Coach position should possess:

  • 3-5 years coaching experience, Novice through Senior Championship Levels
  • Current coach member in good standing with USA Swimming (background, CPR, First Aid, etc.)
  • Pass all Dunlap District 323 background checks and fingerprinting requirements
  • Proficiency with swim management software
  • ASCA certification preferred
  • 2-4 year college degree or equivalent education
  • Extensive knowledge of stroke technique and swimmer development

Responsibilities:

  • Be a positive role model and maintain high ethical and moral standards in accordance with the team’s mission and vision. Adhere to the USA Swimming’s Coaching Code of Conduct and Safe Sport rules.
  • Be passionate about swimming while developing potential and recognizing the value of all swimmers.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude focused on teamwork while meeting the needs of all team members
  • Design swimming and dryland curriculums for all levels to promote stroke development and physical conditioning.
  • Demonstrate a cooperative and respectful communication style with swimmers, parents, staff, and board.
  • Effectively supervise and delegate responsibilities for a staff of 5-10 coaches. This includes practices as well as meets.
  • Set team meet schedules for the SCY and LCM seasons in conjunction with the board.
  • Attend board meetings, provide a monthly coach’s report, conduct monthly staff meetings, and execute staff reviews and swimmer evaluations.

Compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, with a range of $35,000-$45,000.
  • Benefits include an insurance stipend of $300/month, bonus opportunities, and travel expense reimbursement.

Start Date:

  • Candidates should be prepared to join the staff as soon as possible, but no later than August 15, 2016 for the beginning of short course season.
