The Head Swim Coach is responsible for oversight and day-to-day operations of the competitive youth swim team operating in Marquette & Houghton, Michigan with headquarters in Marquette.


The YMCA Killer Whales Head Coach will be an energetic, enthusiastic and organized individual who has the following qualifications: college degree preferred; current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding and Safety Training for Swim Coaches. Also, the successful candidate must have either Principles of YMCA Competitive Swimming and Diving or USA Swimming Coach credentials or the ability to obtain within 1 month of hire. Successful applicants should have a minimum of four years of coaching experience; applicants with previous head coaching experience are preferred. Previous experience with a nonprofit organization and YMCA is preferred.


• Work with the Publicity and Program Planning Committee to recruit swimmers for the team.
• Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions both in the water and additional dryland strength practices with an eye toward helping athletes reach both short and long term goals.
• Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare swimmers for competitive events at all levels.
• Promote an atmosphere of team cohesiveness by working closely with social committee.
• Recruit, interview, hire, schedule, train and supervise assistant coaches and volunteers.
• Assist with the development and management of annual budget for the swim program and monthly budget monitoring.
• Set up, post and run meets using Hy-Tek Meet Manager software.
• Knowledge of IST or similar electronic timing system operations, including troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of electronic components.
• Use TeamUnify software to manage athlete data, meet registration, team entries, team communication and to organize volunteers for home swim meets, fund raising efforts, concessions operations and other team functions.
• Organize volunteers and event workers for at least two large swim invitational’s per year.
• Oversee and effectively manage assistant coaches who work at multiple pool sites with different age athletes and training groups, including an offsite staff located in Houghton.

• Negotiate pool rental contracts with the local high schools and University
• Work with Swim Team Parent Group to set up and manage all home meets.

Age Group Swim Coach



PEAK SWIMMING seeks age group swim coach.

There is also an opportunity to assist the head coach with the Elite group workouts.

Coaching Duties

The coach will coach one groups (ages 10-17) with mainly C/B level swimmers. The
coach will conduct effective workouts daily, 5 days a week; Monitoring swimmers’ progress throughout the season; attending swimming meets. Approximately 10 hours/week (not including meets approximately twice/month). Minimum commitment 1 season.

Administrative Duties

Include being responsible for communications (via letters, emails and website) with the team including publishing: practice/meet schedules, coordinating with parents/swimmers and addressing questions/ concerns from parents/swimmers.

You will also be responsible for maintaining application/registration forms and team roster.

You will work closely with the head coach on both logistical (practices, meets and social activities) and creative (publicity and donations) matters.

Excellent reading and writing skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) functionalities and typing proficiency (around 70 words per minute) are a must. Approximately 7 hours/week (approximately 1 hour/day). Minimum commitment 1 season.


PEAK swimming is a year round Bronze medal club. Since its establishment in 2010, PEAK swimming has produced swimmers at all levels, from CBA meets to the Olympic Trial, as well as sending swimmers in DI, DII colleges.
PEAK swimming is a non-prof organization.

Assistant Women’s Swim Coach

The Assistant Women’s Swim Coach will assist the head coach in all phases of the Women’s Swimming and Diving program including but not limited to recruiting qualified student-athletes, organization and design of practice and competition, on-deck coaching, pool scheduling, team management, travel arrangements, budget management, coordination of academic and compliance staff, alumni development, fundraising and other duties as assigned. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred. One to two years of collegiate and/or club coaching experience (GA experience accepted) is preferred. The assistant coach must pass the NCAA Division I recruiting exam annually. The assistant must also have certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or become certified upon employment. Required skills include: a proven ability to teach and coach fundamentals and advanced skills; advanced knowledge of swimming techniques and strategies; proven organizational and leadership ability; proficient computer skills, and thorough knowledge of NCAA Recruiting Rules.

Mission Valley Aquatics, located on the south shore of Flathead Lake in beautiful Northwestern Montana, seeks a part-time head swim coach for its Lake Monsters Swim Team, an age group, USA Swimming (MT Swimming LSC) program with about 50 swimmers (winter season), ages 6-18.

Primary responsibilities of the swim team head coach are to guide program participants during practice; register for and accompany them to meets; manage the swim team coaching staff and oversee swim team expenses. The coach works with the aquatic director to develop short-term program goals and long-term vision. Hours vary depending on time of year and seasonal commitments.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
– Create an energetic, fun environment for swimmers and families to thrive athletically and personally.
– Supervise swimmers during practice; ensure swimmer safety while in the water.
– Explain and enforce swim team policies and procedures.
– Recommend for hire, train, motivate and supervise coaching staff to achieve consistency and excellence.
– Design and communicate workouts with fellow coaches to maintain curriculum consistency.
– Work with the aquatic director to schedule practice times, swim meets, special events and clinics.
– Communicate regularly with aquatic director about swim team operations.
– Communicate with parents about swimmer progress and requirements for success.
– Manage all USA Swimming and Montana Swimming annual registrations, meet entries and team record keeping, either through Team Unify software or a comparable system.

Graduate Assistant Swim Coach

While pursuing graduate studies, the Fellow will be assigned duties as an Assistant Coach of Men’s and Women’s Swimming in all aspects of the program. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach in the development of leading and organizing all facets of a Division III men’s and women’s swimming program, knowledge of and adherence to NESCAC and NCAA rules, recruiting, practice planning and execution, teaching responsibilities and mentoring student-athletes. The Fellow will also have administrative duties within the Department.

Graduate programs are available which lead to the Master of Arts degree in different fields (American Studies, English, and Public Policy).


Bachelor’s degree. Proven successful men’s and/or women’s swimming coaching experience and/or swimming experience. Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, advanced social media skills, and a strong knowledge of swimming. Ability to teach physical education courses in aquatics preferred. Candidate should be considering a career in college coaching.

The Eagle Swim Team (EST) has a full time position open as the Head Age Group Coach. Our team is home to 210 motivated swimmers ages 6-18; abilities range from novice to national qualifiers. The Eagles are based at the McDonogh School (www.mcdonogh.org) located in Owings Mills, MD, and train at the Henry Rosenberg Aquatic Center (8-lane 50-meter pool) which opened in 2006. EST is a coach directed team and this position reports directly to Head Coach and Team President Scott Ward.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a coach to have a career of positively impacting children and young adults’ lives through competitive swimming. Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of coaching experience with a demonstrated ability of successfully working with children and young adults. This position will involve serving as the lead coach for our Gold group and Masters Team, overseeing the entire age group program and assisting with our Senior and National Training Groups. In addition to strength of character and being an excellent role model, the candidate should possess a strong work ethic and a selfless attitude. Excellent organizational and communication skills with athletes and parents and the ability to teach outstanding stroke technique is critical for this position. Computer proficiency is needed in TeamUnify, Hy-Tek (TM & MM), MS Excel, Word, Publisher, and Google Docs. The candidate will need to have all USA Swimming required certifications inc luding an up to date background check and driving record.
