Age Group Coach, Nitro Swimming, Cedar Park (North Austin), TX

  • Level of Team any

with Nitro Swimming

If it “Ain’t” Broke, Keep Making it Better!

Nitro Swimming, one of the premier programs in USA Swimming is looking to add two, possibly three high quality Swimming Coaches to their Cedar Park (North Austin area) USA Swimming Coaching Staff!

Nitro Swimming has just come off of our best year ever —- both Long Course and Short Course … Our Age Groupers Winning TAGS for the 9th time last month,   our National Group guys winning Jr Nationals this past summer, with the girls helping push us to a 2nd place overall finish combined.

We’re looking for two to three individuals who do NOT aspire to coach the older kids, but instead have their hearts wrapped around coaching and helping our age groupers and developmental kiddos!  We are hiring two to three people who love working with kids who laugh at your jokes, but still think you walk on water! If you truly enjoy being involved in the formative years of seeing kids drop 15 seconds in a 50 from one meet to the next, and embracing the sheer goofiness of coaching age groupers and what they bring to the pool every day, then we want to hear from you!

Nitro Swimming Cedar Park is located on the north side of Austin, Texas —–Very hot in the summers, but a cool place to live!

Nitro has two locations, each approximately 30,000 sq ft. Both are indoor facilities, with two beautiful indoor pools in each one. Indoors is critical — especially here in Texas—not just to be inside during 40 degree, cold, drizzly winter nights (yes, we have those here); but to protect you and your skin from the brutal summer sun that sees days in the triple digits. One of the sayings we have around Nitro is: “It’s good to be indoors!”

Our main pools are 25 yards x 50 meters, kept year round at 81 degrees. We also have two warm water lessons pools where we are Austin’s #1 learn to swim destination, the Nitro Swim School.

We are looking for those key individuals who LOVE interacting with kids, ENJOY working in a fast paced positive and competitive swim environment, and is EAGER to join the hardest working coaching staff in the country.

The positions range from part time hourly ($16-$18/hr, approx. 25-30 hrs a week) to possibly one or two full time, salaried Coaching positions.

Salary range for this position will be very attractive. It will be dependent upon experience, references, history/track record. We will not only be checking the references you submit, but we will seek out others who know you in the coaching / swimming circles, and we will solicit their feedback as well.

Private lessons are also available to teach. Our Coaches are paid $40/hr for those regardless of whether part time or full time.

On Deck Coaching hours during the school year for this position are Mon-Thur, 3:45-9:15PM; Fridays 3:45-7:00PM; Sat 10:30AM-1:30PM, with some seasonal clinics. No Sunday practices.

Summer time we add long course mornings for our competitive groups, but we work to balance out the days with our staff to keep  hours reasonable.

Typical meet schedule responsibilities, but at Nitro we give all of our Full Time Salaried Coaches a paid “rolling day off” during the week following any meet where you are coaching a Sunday session.

12 days Paid Time Off (PTO) after 12 months with us, plus holidays.

It is Lights, Camera, Action every day, every practice, every set. If you are looking for a cushy, boring, stand in one place with hands in your pockets/twirling a stop watch around your finger type of coaching position, look somewhere else.

The energy on the pool deck driven by the coaches and the kids is what makes the Nitro engine run. Hard to describe 23 lanes of high octane energy churning at once, with coaches lined up and down the pool deck feeding off of each other, but that’s what we do.

Send me a note explaining why you believe you can light up a kid’s swimming world and also include your competitive swimming and/or coaching experience with references. Looking to add these positions immediately. If not authorized to work in the USA, no need to apply.

Looking forward to hearing from you. Mike Koleber, Nitro Swimming. [email protected]
