Position Summary

The Aquatics Training Manager is responsible for training and leading the SwimLabs instructors to create an environment where new swimmers and competitive swimmers learn to swim better, stronger, faster and safer.  This includes hiring and developing the highest quality instructors, inspiring growth and development, adhering to the SwimLabs curriculum, taking personal responsibility for the safety of swimmers, and ensuring every lesson is the best possible experience for the swimmer.

Essential Job Duties

Hiring, Training, and Developing Instructors

  • Recruits, selects, orients, and trains employees
  • Ensures the training and development process results in consistency in lessons, improvement and growth among instructors, and a great experience for swimmers
  • Facilitation of the training program for SwimLabs instructors including the curriculum and practical training’s of SwimLabs Level 1 and Level 2 programs
  • Oversight of quarterly and annual reviews for all instructors which includes scheduling, conducting reviews and communicating results to the instructors.
  • Develops effective processes for ongoing training based on gaps identified in the reviews conducted with instructors
  • Communicates our vision and mission to employees and reinforces those messages on a regular cadence
  • Develops and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standard
  • Inspires the SwimLabs team to learn and stay current with techniques, progression and industry trends
  • Plans and leads meetings and effective workshops for SwimLabs instructors
  • Develops a referral network for instructors among the swimming community

Client Service Excellence- Quality and Safety

  • Enforces quality and customer service standards
  • Analyzes and resolves quality and customer service problems; identifies trends and recommends system improvements
  • Maintains current knowledge and standards of practice by teaching lessons ongoing
  • Reviews curriculum and suggests appropriate improvements and adjustments
  • Management of all poolroom and equipment room operations including ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and chemical usage. Must be CPO certified.

Technology Maintenance and Support

  • Responsible for all technology involved with lessons, including the maintenance of computer and camera systems and initial support for technical issues.

Business Growth

  • Utilizes expertise in swimming and SwimLabs curriculum to earn new clients and retain current clients.
  • Participates in special events by organizing and/or attending events, ensuring properly staffed and qualified aquatics expertise, promoting events to clients and overall coordination.
  • Assists with recruiting and hiring decisions for instructors

Professional Growth

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and bench-marking state-of-the-art practices.

Job Summary:

The Head Swim Team Coach component is responsible for the management and operation of the Hannibal Hurricanes Swim Team. During slow coaching times, the Head Swim Team Coach will assist the Aquatics Director in tasks, such as lifeguarding and clerical duties.

 

Head Swim Team Coach General Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and conduct team practices.
  • Hire and Work with assistant coaches to develop and administer appropriate plans for all swimmers in the HHST Swim Team.
  • Be proficient in creating work outs for all age groups and skill levels
  • Work with assistant coaches to ensure continuity in athlete development.
  • Actively participate in and work with the Heartland Area, River Country, and Ozark swim leagues in order to assure team participation in all available swim meets, invitational meets and championships meets
  • Attend scheduled  Practices and Swim Meets
  • Prepare meet entries and provide on deck coaching at all age group meets.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and training. Plan and monitor incentive program for swimmers.
  • Establish group guidelines for swimmers and evaluate athletes periodically and make recommendations for progression through the program.
  • Work closely with Aquatics Director in coordinating pool needs; practice times, meets, etc. As well as tracking monthly swim fees
  • Work closely with Wellness Director in coordinating dry land sessions for the swimmers
  • Perform various administrative duties, including communication with parents via email, phone, bulletin board, mailbox system and team website.
  • Coordinate parent volunteer responsibilities in the areas of; home and away swim meets (timers/recorders, officials, score keepers, and runners), swim team fundraising, and working with any parent volunteer leaders.
  • Be proficient with Hytek (meet manager and team manager), On Deck, and Colorado Timing System.  Maintain routine maintenance of CTS
  • Maintain your life guard certifications by attending recertification (see recertification contract)
  • Interact positively with swimmers, parents, co-workers and the general public.
  • Prepare lesson plans prior to class. (think this can come out)
  • Have knowledge of proper swimming skills and  be able to communicate these clearly to swimmer

 

Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • W.S.I and/or YMCA Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogens Instructor Certification
  • YMCA Progressive Swim Certifications preferred
  • Certified Lifeguard, Principles of Aquatic Leadership, Swim Instructor certified preferred
  • USA swimming coaches certification
  • Minimum 2-year experience as a swim instructor or swim coach.
  • Knowledgeable in “Meet Manager” software for swim meet scoring
  • College Degree preferred

Working Conditions:

Full-Time Lead Coach Position (Dayton OH)

Lead Coach Position (full time)

The WTRC Sharks of Dayton OH are seeking an experienced coach to lead our fastest group of 11-12’s as well as assisting with other groups as needed. The ideal candidate can start as early as April 10th but should be able to start no later than May 1st 2017.

The Sharks have a rich tradition of over twenty-five years of swimming excellence in the Dayton area. The Sharks compete in the Ohio Swimming LSC and the club currently consists of 160 swimmers but has been as high as 230 within the past few years. The Sharks are hoping to find the right candidate to help facilitate/grow the clubs membership into next season and beyond. The club presently consists of 2 full time coaches, 5 part-time coaches, a parent working group and a board of directors.

In the Fall/Winter the club trains at the Washington Township Recreation Center, a 50,000 sq foot natatorium with an 8 lane, 25y pool and a 2 lane, 20y instructional pool. The facility also has a separate diving well, dryland training rooms, indoor elevated track and gymnasium that can be used along with spacious spectator seating. In the Summer months (June-Aug) along with utilizing the Rec Center the Sharks also train at 2 outdoor pools (one is 25m and the other is 50m.)
The ideal candidate should possess the following abilities and qualifications: • passion/knowledge for the sport of swimming • grow and support the club, along with the coaching staff, through quality technique instruction that will allow swimmers to advance locally, regionally and nationally • Strong background in competitive swimming with at least 2-3 years of club level coaching experience • Experience in TEAM UNIFY • Ability to develop and implement short and long term goals • College degree is preferred • An active USA Swimming Member in good standing • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills

Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University, Atlantic Sun Conference, and CCSA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs, including passing the NCAA certification test. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Performs other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. One year of coaching experience at the collegiate level or above; or three years of coaching experience at the high school level. Current knowledge of NCAA rules. Ability to pass the NCAA certification test annually. Current Swim Coaches Safety certification and CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within two months of employment. Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the country.

Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization. Collegiate coaching experience. Assistant Coach Position—Sandhills Sandsharks Swimming

The Sandhills Sandsharks Swim Team, located in the Pinehurst area of North Carolina, one hour south of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach. The USA Swimming club is a small team established 30 years ago with approximately 100 athletes.  SSS practices at the O’Neal School and has acquired land on which to build an additional facility.  SSS hosts two Open Water meets each year, and is again hosting Open Water Zones for the second time in June, 2017.

There is room for leadership and advancement for the right candidate as the club grows to its next phase with the development of the new facility.

This position is primarily an on-deck position.  With time and experience, the candidate can advance to a position of greater responsibility within the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Head Coach with Senior Squad and Senior Prep 5-6 days a week, possibly including dryland, morning practices, and long course practices in Sanford in the summer. Adhere to SSS’s philosophy of developing leadership and long term goals.
  • Assist Age Group coach with Age Group practices, with potential to assume leadership of a squad.
  • Oversee/coach programs associated with Sandsharks Aquatics (lessons, summer league, developmental squads, Masters).
  • Possess a positive, encouraging and energetic attitude towards all swimmers.
  • Possess the strong communication skills required for working with parents, swimmers, the Sandsharks Board, and others involved with the team.
  • Attend weekend meets as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Coaching experience at age group level (volunteer work included)
  • Interest in pursuing USA Swimming coaching as a career
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited institution
  • Clean driving record, background check and USA Coaching certification (or willingness to get certification within 30 days of employment.
