Job Purpose

Responsible for assisting the head coach in the daily operations and overall administration of a varsity intercollegiate sport program and instruction of student- athletes, within the guidelines, rules and regulations of The University of Scranton, Landmark Conference and the NCAA.

Essential Duties

– Lead training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained

– Perform specific coaching and instructional responsibilities during athletic events

– Attend coach’s preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings

– Develop a comprehensive and functional knowledge of the sport and maintain a thorough and continuing familiarity with all applicable University, Landmark Conference and NCAA regulations

– Work closely with athletic training staff to insure safety of all student-athletes

Spring Swim Team, a USA swim team located in North Houston, Texas, is looking for qualified assistant swim coaches to join our staff immediately.

 

Requirements:

The Aquatics Director will follow all Department of Health (DOH) aquatics standards to maintain safety for all programs in and around the pool area. Certified Pool Operator License a plus.

Competitive Swimming Lessons Program Manager

Description:
This person oversees our Learn-to-Swim Lessons Program and is responsible for all aspects pertaining to group and private lessons, including managing all swim instructors. Must be present on deck to lifeguard and oversee lessons Monday through Thursday and speak with parents face-to-face. Will confirm, on a monthly basis, all lesson level move-ups and communicate them to parents. Responsible for all hiring, firing, training and scheduling of lesson instructors and will hold regular staff training sessions.
Normal Lesson Hours: 15.5 hours per week
During Lesson Hours, this person is responsible for Lifeguarding the two lanes of Lessons while also being on deck to communicate with parents and oversee instructors. Once per month, the Lessons Manager will conduct evaluations of each swimmer in the program, make up report cards and graduate swimmers to the next level when ready.

Monday-Thursday: 4-7pm
Saturday OR Sunday: 10:30am-1pm

*Note: Some time will need to spent outside of these hours to ensure a job well done. Managers need to be able to communicate (via cell phone) with staff to be effective, and we will reimburse a portion of this person’s monthly phone bill.

Outside of Lesson Hours & Duties: 4-8 hours per week
These jobs have flexibility regarding when they can be completed, but must be done in a timely manner to ensure program continuity and a job well done.

Online Registration Platform & Class Offerings: responsible for updating our registration system’s monthly class offerings. Cancel and combine classes as needed.

Lesson Instructor Schedule: will build the monthly swim lesson instructor schedule and handle all staff absences and substitutions.

Staff In-Service Training Session: will hold regular monthly training sessions for all swim lesson instructors to ensure program consistency and quality.

Weekly Management Meeting: the management team must meet regularly to reinforce program consistency and efficiency.

Requirements:

Lifeguard & CPR Certified: must currently hold or capable of obtaining American Red Cross Lifeguarding & CPR Certification. Prefer if candidate is already certified, but we regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of the class and renewals.

Strong Customer Service Skills: This position is the first line of communication for the much of our business and the gateway to our entire program. Parents must be educated from the beginning on how to be a good swim parent and this person needs to be outgoing, friendly and personable.

Organized & Detail Oriented: The health of our organization relies on the success of our lessons program. Enrollment numbers must be maintained and additional compensation will be given for growing the program past certain thresholds.

Problem Solving Skills & Ability to Think Critically: In a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment it is critical this person is able to self-start, work independently and make judgement calls under pressure.

Compensation:

Base Pay: $18-$20 per hour

This person will be the primary coach on the Accelerate Group, our top Age Group level on our year-round competitive swim team. BAAC is a year-round USA Swimming club of 85+ swimmers who has won every Niagara LSC small-team championship during the past 6 SC & LC seasons by more than twice the points of next closest team. BAAC also finished in the top 6 of all teams at Niagara LSC Championships for the past 8 seasons. BAAC holds Recognition Level 2 as a Board-governed team & 501c3 non-profit organization.

As Head Age Group Coach, you will lead swimmers & assistant coaches in meeting their goals under the guidance of BAAC’s head coach. BAAC has swimmers at skill levels from novice to Sectional qualifier & values coaches who can inspire swimmers to do their best to achieve their goals. BAAC strives to foster a love of the sport & we expect our coaches to make our members’ experience enjoyable. We want the coaches who work for BAAC to progress in their careers, & we expect our head age group coach to help mentor the coaches he/she works with to do the same.  We know that for our team to be successful, our coaches need room to coach, board support, & education to help them improve. Qualifications

-Current USA Swimming Coach Certification in good standing, with a clear background check.   Certification in CPR, First Aid, & Coaches Safety Training.

-Minimum ASCA level 2 preferred

-Excellent knowledge of stroke technique & proven ability to communicate that knowledge to swimmers & coaches.

Coaching Environment

You will be coaching primarily in our home pool, located on the SUNY University at Buffalo’s campus. Alumni Arena hosts an indoor, 50 M (8 lanes) by 25 Yd (17 lanes) pool, with a separate diving well. Long-course training is built into the training schedule over the summers & the facility itself is state of the art.   BAAC also has access to a private training room for dry-lands, which includes a wide variety of training equipment such as pull-up bars, TRX bands, dumbbells, kettlebells, box jumps, & more.   A second facility at SUNY Buffalo State College is used for morning practices during the school year. This 25 Yd (6 lane) pool has been recently renovated.

Assistant Coach/Head Summer season Coach, Silver Creek Valley Country Club

The individual selected will serve as the assistant coach for the year-round swim team, and serve as Head Coach of the summer season team (mid-April through the end of July). Assistant coach duties include coaching a novice group and an age group practice (approximately two hours per day, five days a week) as well as attend swim meets approximately once a month. This individual will also cover senior group practices when Head Coach is absent due to meet attendance or illness. The summer coaching duties include planning and running practices Monday through Friday, oversee entries and attend six meets, and work with Aquatic Director to plan and run team social activities. This position will pay up to $25 per hour for the assistant position, and $2000 per month for the summer coaching position. The Overlee Flying Fish Team is accepting applications for the position of Head Coach for the 2017 summer swim season. Overlee is an NVSL Division 1 team located in North Arlington, Virginia. The swim team season runs from mid-May through the first week in August.

We are looking for an experienced candidate with technical and interpersonal skills to coach our growing team of 300+ swimmers, a coach that can develop our swimmers’ technical skills while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship within a fun-filled but competitive environment.

Dates of Employment:

  • In late winter and early Spring of 2017, hiring assistant coaches and setting team schedule, including social events, clinics, and developmental and intramural meets. The head coach works with a designated liaison from the Board of Directors and the parent Swim Team Representatives on hiring and schedule decisions.
  • Pre-season orientation and training for assistant coaches in May, before on-deck practices begin.
  • On-deck coaching responsibilities from May 21, 2017, through the completion of the NVSL all-star meet on August 5, 2017. Employment is at-will.
  • Responsibilities: Conduct orientation and pre-season training for assistant coaching staff, to include 6-8 hours of instruction. Conduct additional on-going training as appropriate.
  • Develop the skills of assistant coaching staff, to include swim instruction, teamwork, communication, and professionalism
  • Maintain a record of hours worked for all coaches paid on an hourly basis; coordinate with Overlee’s administrative manager to ensure completion of required employment paperwork for self and for coaching staff; supervise assistant coaching staff
  • Work closely with the School of Fish head coach to develop a swim program that meets the needs of Overlee’s developmental swimmers
  • Take the lead in planning practices and scheduling and supervising coaching staff to cover all sessions of practice and/or make-up sessions
  • Prepare meet sheets and coach all competitive and developmental meets. Develop skills of age-group swimmers with a focus on proper swim technique
  • Develop appropriate dry-land workouts to complement in-pool skills development
  • Emphasize the importance of adherence to the Overlee and Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) code of conduct for coaching staff and swimmers
  • Emphasize for swimmers the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship
  • Attend required team meetings and social activities, including weekly Friday evening pep rallies during the season
  • Develop awards night program and work collaboratively with assistant coaching staff to identify swimmers who will receive awards
  • Present in an advanced and timely manner, any reasonable requested time off to the Board Liaisons
  • Communicate regularly with the designated parent Swim Team Representatives. The parent Swim Team Representatives will be responsible for administrative support and league representation and will coordinate with you on team activities

Supervision and Reporting Structure:

  • Head coach reports to the Board of Directors of the Association, through the designated Board Swim Team Liaison
  • Head coach will work collaboratively with the Assistant Head Coach and with the Board Swim Team Liaison and parent Swim Team Representatives
  • Head Coach will cooperate and coordinate with the on-duty pool manager to ensure safe and orderly swim team events. The on-duty manager retains authority to suspend pool activities for safety reasons (for example, during weather-related emergencies)

Required Certifications:

  • Maintain American Red Cross lifesaving and first aid/CPR certifications. Upon satisfactory completion of the term of employment, you may be reimbursed for up to $150 of the cost of annual re-certification
  • All employees 18 years of age and older may be required to satisfactorily complete a background check, which will include criminal and driving records

Code of Conduct:

As Head Coach, you are an employee of Overlee Community Association, Inc. and subject to its employee code of conduct. Overlee holds its employees and representatives to a high standard of proper conduct. Unsportsmanlike and unlawful behavior will not be tolerated and may be met with disciplinary action that could include termination. All coaching staff are required to sign and comply with the Association’s employee handbook and the NVSL Code of Conduct.

Velocity Swimming in Wenatchee, WA is seeking a full-time Head Age Group Coach (ASCA Level 2 preferred). The Head Age Group Coach is primarily responsible for lead coaching our 11 to 14-year-old group that includes several Age Group Zone level swimmers. The Head Age Group Coach will coordinate our Age Group program (Copper, Steel, and Bronze groups) under the direction of the Head Coach with the goal of pushing the vision of our team towards senior-level swimming. In addition, the Head Age Group Coach will direct our small “Swim America” swim lesson program.

Expected duties include swim meet coaching as assigned, directing our team captain program, assisting with meet entries, home meet set up and tear down, upkeep of our meet results and team records, assisting with the team unify website, assisting with team calendar and coaching assignments, filling in for other coaching groups as needed and other duties as assigned. Meet travel per-diem, cell phone allowance, ASCA membership and certifications are paid by the team. Training opportunities may be paid on an as-needed and approved basis.

Prospective candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and be strong leaders who exhibit a desire to assist young swimmers in achieving their goals. Candidates must also possess a set of skills including but not limited to: computer skills with specific experience in Hy-Tek and Team Unify team management platforms, and Office suite of programs. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills.
