Job Duties

This position’s initial duties will include providing assistance to the Head Coach with activities associated with the Women’s Swimming & Diving Intercollegiate Athletics program and student athletes, including recruitment, monitoring academic performance and social development, maintaining discipline and development programs, fundraising activities, coordinating summer camp, pre-and post-conditioning programs, practice, and games; and other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one (1) year of coaching experience at the collegiate level or above or three (3) years of coaching experience at the high school level. Current knowledge of NCAA rules. Ability to pass the NCAA certification test annually. Current Swim Coaches Safety certification and CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within two (2) months of employment. Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout the country.

Provincial Coach, Provincial High Performance Program Coordinator

Provincial Coach – The primary responsibility is to lead the development, implementation, monitoring, management and evaluation of High Performance Provincial Team programs (for e.g. provincial stroke camps, tour teams, staging camps, games teams, athlete selection etc.) of Swim Saskatchewan to achieve the goals in the Swim Saskatchewan Strategic Plan and High Performance Strategic Plan. This will also involve Head Coaching responsibilities at all Provincial Team initiatives and also on the Western Canada Games and Canada Games Teams through attendance at the games and by coordinating the preparation of Team Sask.

To also work with club coaches throughout the province to develop provincial team programs that will improve the selection of Saskatchewan swimmers to Swimming Canada Youth, Junior and Senior National teams.

Job Requirements

  • A demonstrated history of coaching success in competitive swimming at the Senior National level.
  • A proven track record of developing, implementing and evaluating technical competitive swimming programs at the age group, junior and senior levels.
  • Minimum NCCP Level 3 certification (or equivalent).
  • An educational background and extensive knowledge and experience of sport science and high performance sport. A Bachelor’s degree in a sport/exercise science discipline (i.e. Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Physical Education, etc.) will be considered an asset.
  • A strong understanding of training principles (progressive overload, periodization, tapering, etc.) and athlete development (e.g., Long Term Athlete Development model).
  • A comprehensive knowledge of competitive swimming.
  • Written and oral fluency in English.
  • Proven communication and people skills.
  • Excellent administrative, programming and computer skills.
  • The applicant should be a self-motivated individual who can work and accomplish tasks independently, and has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work collaboratively with others in working towards common goals.
  • Ability to travel throughout Saskatchewan, Canada and North America.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to lead the development, implementation, monitoring, management and evaluation of High Performance Provincial Team programs (for e.g. provincial stroke camps, tour teams, staging camps, games teams, athlete selection etc.) of Swim Saskatchewan to achieve the goals in the Swim Saskatchewan Strategic Plan and High Performance Strategic Plan. This will also involve Head Coaching responsibilities at all Provincial Team initiatives and also on the Western Canada Games and Canada Games Teams through attendance at the games and by coordinating the preparation of Team Sask.

The position will be responsible for the planning and implementation of effective sport science support and services (e.g. athlete monitoring and testing procedures) during the regular swim season and at various provincial team activities.

The position will develop/establish performance standards including testing, monitoring and evaluating swimmers’ progress and success. This will involve performing regular communication and follow-up meetings with swimmers selected to the various Swim Sask High Performance Provincial Teams and with their club coaches in regards to athlete monitoring and testing, which will include the collection, analysis and reporting of data.

The position will require the development and implementation of a regular visitation schedule with all head coaches in the province for the purpose of working with and providing support to those coaches to help develop and prepare swimmers for future involvement at national team activities and to get more clubs in Saskatchewan thinking and operating at a more competitive and High Performance level.

Develop a talent identification program that can be implemented across the province within club programs and between organizations (for e.g. community programs, Red Cross lessons, etc.)

Monitor results of Saskatchewan swimmers and assist club coaches to identify areas in need of further development. Provide recommendations to club coaches and assist with programs for future athlete development.

Provide swim clubs and coaches with technical advice and expertise in whatever capacity might be required and act as a mentor coach and resource person for all coaches when requested.

Liaise and provide support to the university varsity program(s) to ensure the delivery of quality high performance swimming programs in Saskatchewan for post-secondary athletes.

Attend all Saskatchewan Provincial Championships, provincial coaching association meetings and Swimming Canada Provincial Coaches meetings.

This is a full time position and hours of work will vary but will include evenings and weekends. This position is partially fund by a grant from Sask Sport Inc. The contract will be a one-year term with possible extension for a minimum of two additional one-year terms.

We are looking for a creative design professional that has a strong portfolio of cut-and-sew products, apparel design work, and project management. The Category Manager – Soft Goods would jump right into current projects in development and help drive new innovation. Projects in this role are specific to the swimwear and apparel that FINIS is developing. Tasks will range from new pattern making to final packaging design creation, and everything in between.

The Category Manager – Soft Goods works closely with the Development Manager and other Category Managers to collaborate, direct, and produce products from inception to completion. The resulting work is creative, inspiring, on-time, and aligned with business goals and strategies. The Category Manager – Soft Goods must have strong pattern making skills, a background in cut-and-sew products, a good understanding of the apparel manufacturing processes, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Development of soft-goods products
o Creation of new swimwear patterns, apparel designs, bags and any other cut-and-sew type item

for the FINIS product line.
o Design sketching and modeling of new and ongoing soft goods products
o Rapid prototyping and testing of new and ongoing soft goods products
o Have a keen knowledge of each existing soft goods products and their manufacturing process

• Management of current and future soft goods products
o Using the FINIS Product Life Cycle process to manage and maintain multiple products o Effectively controlling the projects from inception, production and end-of-life

Requirements

• Management of current and future electronic products
o Using the FINIS Product Life Cycle process to manage and maintain multiple products o Effectively controlling the projects from inception, production and end-of-life

Requirements

  • Minimum BS in Engineering or another related field
  • At least 3-4 years experience in Design and Engineering, Product Management, Electronic Modeling, RapidPrototyping, or other related field
  • Past work experience with new product development processes and responsibilities; any experience with
  • Understanding of Solidworks, Rhino3D, or other related CAD software
  • Must be a fast creative talent who moves efficiently through the phases of creative development while ensuring appropriate input along the way.
  • Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple priorities, anticipate demands, communicate status appropriately, and maintain a high level of operational transparency and accountability
  • Skilled at delivering creative concept presentations
  • Knowledge of sporting goods industry; current or past involvement as a swimmer/triathlete is a plus

 Job Requirements

Ideal applicant will have experience as a competitive swimmer and as a competitive swimming coach at the club, high school, or college level, as well as a desire to learn and grow as a coach.  This is an unpaid position but there are other opportunities for income outside the athletic department that are not associated with this position.

Senior Group Coach

The KING Senior Group consists of approximately 25-30 swimmers, mainly ages13-16, and is the second highest level within the club. Most of this group has Senior Sectional cuts and are eying a move towards becoming national level athletes. The Senior Coach will work directly with Co-Head Coaches/National Team Coaches to establish culture, criteria, and, seasonal plan for the KING senior groups with the goal of developing world-class athletes and an environment for long-term success. There will also be an administrative role for this person to play within the club based on their strengths and operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Be a self-driven learner.
  • Be a member in good standing of USA Swimming and be fully certified.
  • Have at least 4+ years of USA Swimming coaching experience.
  • 4 year college degree preferred.
  • Be flexible, willing to learn/grow as a coach, open to new methods, and is a positive persona on the pool deck.
  • Be knowledgeable in Team Manager, Excel, and word.
  • Have experience in scheduling pool time, budgeting, and organizing team travel.

Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach

Assist head swimming coach with the daily operation of the swimming program and the recruitment of student-athletes.

Coaching duties include monitoring preparation of athletic facilities for practice and meets, scouting opposing teams, developing and applying team rules, and assisting the head coach with team selection, practices, and meet management. Administrative duties include making team travel arrangements, monitoring academic progress of students, and supervising student workers.

A bachelor’s degree and a sound knowledge of collegiate swimming are required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to coach student-athletes at the highest level. Candidates must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be insurable under Denison’s liability insurance policy. Prefer that candidates have successful intercollegiate swim coaching experience and proven experience in recruiting student athletes.
