Assistant Men’s/Women’s Swim Coach

The Head Coach reports to the Division Manager and is responsible of all daily operations of the swim team, and implementation of the vision and annual goals set forth by Gainesville Parks and Recreation.   • Development of a program and philosophy that emphasizes the teaching of technical skills while striving to build swimmer’s confidence, endurance and training level;

  • Conducts all aspects of pool operations in conjunction with other full-time staff members to ensure the health, safety, and sanitation;
  • Assures that all patrons and staff adhere to GPRA policies and regulations and effectively mediates and handles all patron and/or staff disciplinary actions;

Education and Experience:

Job Title:  Lead Age Group Coach (LAGC)

The LAGC works directly with the Head Swim Coach and Head Age Group Coach to lead groups of the Age Group Swimming (AGS) program at BAC, a competitive swimming program that BAC operates as part of USA Swimming. Lead Age Group Coaches are responsible for many facets of the program’s operation, growth and success, including administration and oversight, under the guidance and supervision of the Head Swim Coach (HSC) and Head Age Group Coach (HAGC).


Duties Include:

  • Lead, create, and implement a training program for all group(s) under the LAGC’s direct supervision
  • Coach training groups as designated by the HSC
  • Participate in supporting BAC’s family service hour requirement
  • Assist in chairing/leading social events for the team with assistance from team parent volunteers, and assist in promoting social events to all team members and families

  • Respond to all BAC related emails within 48 hours of receipt

The successful candidate will be a career-minded coach who is organized, personable, and able to communicate effectively with parents, young athletes, and co-workers alike. This person must have a strong background in competitive swimming with at least 2 years of coaching experience, and be able to effectively evaluate and implement training philosophies.  ASCA Level 1 certification or higher is strongly desired. The ability to set both individual and program goals and to then develop a path to achieve those goals is crucial to success in this role. A successful coach will also possess excellent reading and writing skills. Regular email, phone, and in-person communication is required, and  professional and friendly communication skills are important. Attention to safety and professional behavior must be present at all times.


Compensation & Benefits:

Salary commensurate with experience. Employees receive free and/or discounted access to select BAC programs for employees and family members.

Hours and Location:

This is a part-time position that includes both on-deck hours as well as office hours for program administration and development. Consistent on-site office hours will be established with the HSC to ensure regular contact with other staff members and sufficient time for collaboration.

Head Coaching Position – Kansas City, Missouri

The Empire Swim Club seeks to develop and educate athletes focusing on character, dedication, teamwork, perseverance, work ethic, and other lifelong lessons and skills through a strong, competitive swim team for novice through elite swimmers.  


EMPIRE Swim Club is currently conducting a search for a Head Coach to support our mission and guide the development of our team into the future. ESC is located in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and has been a USA swimming member since its inception.  ESC has between 120-160 swimmers registered with the club throughout the year.  The successful candidate will have exceptional leadership skills, communicate effectively with athletes, parents and board members, and have the ability to develop and promote competitive swimming for all ages.

Qualifications:  1) 5+ years as an experienced head coach or age group coach with a USA certified swim organization. 2) Bachelor’s degree. 3) Member in good standing with USA Swimming and current with all background checks and required certifications. 4) ASCA Level 3 certification (or equivalent) required, Level 4 preferred. 5) Established history of successfully developing competitive, high-performance athletes. 6) Established history of successfully progressing athletes from an age group program to the national level. 7) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 8) Ability to communicate proper stroke technique instruction and development, dryland conditioning, and taper strategies for all levels of swimmers. 9) Ability to manage and mentor coaching staff, certifying the implementation of the team’s mission and goals. 10) Familiarity of Team Unify, Hy-Tek, Meet Manager, Team Manager and other social media outlets.

Responsibilities:  1) Responsible for overall team management, including but not limited to training programs, fundraising, recruitment of swimmers, meet entries and team travel. 2) Inspire swimmers of all levels to achieve their maximum potential, while guaranteeing a positive swim environment. 3) Recognize and effectively correct technique weaknesses for swimmers in all groups. 4) Set team meet schedule and assist in organization of home meets. 5) Supervise and mentor the staff of assistant coaches, delegating responsibilities as needed.   6) Support and foster professional development among assistant coaches. 7) Ensure USA Swimming Policies and Procedures are being observed. Trains staff of all protocols and procedures. 8) Attend monthly board meeting, provide a monthly coaches report, conduct staff meetings and swimmer evaluations. 9) Recruit, retain and expand the team membership.

Compensation: Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. ESC pays for USA membership, professional development, and attendance at clinics. Potential for more income with private lessons, clinics and bonus program related to increased membership.
