Head Coach – Women’s Swimming and Diving
Athletics

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of
swimming and diving activities including: teaching and mentoring student
athletes, instructing and advising team practices, training sessions and
contests, and effectively recruiting student athletes while working with the
admissions office.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, 2-5 years of experience coaching swimming and personal affirmation of the
Christian mission of Westmont College and the Community Life Statement and adherence to its
behavioral expectations. Must be able to successfully lead and mentor students relative to their
Christian faith. Also requires: ability to teach and coach student-athletes (team and individual), to
inspire and motivate student-athletes, ability to foster relations with internal staff and studentathletes,
and to manage and maintain confidential and private information. Role requires:
effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to
convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural groups, computer
proficiency using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and
its functions,

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach and coach student athletes on training for swimming and diving and advising them on
team work and motivational techniques within the context of our Christian commitment.
Instruct and supervise team practices, training sessions and contests.
Effectively recruit student athletes while working in conjunction with the Admissions Office.
Schedule contests and practices for each season.
Manage team budget and supplies in recruitment, team travel, hospitality, equipment, etc.
Participate on committees and in professional development as appropriate.
Fund raise for operations and scholarship budget.
Organize and lead summer swim camps and generate revenue by offering swim lessons.
