Jami Hwang Accepts Appointment to Army West Point’s Class of 2021

Southern California’s Jami Hwang has accepted her appointment to The United States Military Academy, also known as Army West Point, and will join the Black Knights’ class of 2021. Hwang is a senior at Tesoro High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, where she is a captain of the 2017 swim team. At last year’s CIF-SS Division I Championships, Hwang contributed to Tesoro’s third-place team finish with a sixth in the 100 back (57.02), a 25.77 fly leg on the medley relay, and a 24.46 leadoff on the 200 free relay.

Hwang swims year-round for Irvine Novaquatics, with whom she competed at Winter Juniors West this past December. There, she achieved personal bests in the 50/100/200y backstrokes; she also competed in the 100 fly.

Hwang’s top times include:

  • 50 back – 26.33
  • 100 back – 55.89
  • 200 back – 2:02.55
  • 100 fly – 57.76
  • 50 free – 24.46
  • 100 free – 55.09

Also suiting up for the Black Knights next year will be Camille Long, Emily Landeryou, and Lexus VanHoven.
