James Madison Improves Undefeated Dual Season Record 7-0

James Madison University took down the Marshall Herd this weekend at a dual meet hosted by the Herd on the 21st with a final score of 159-141. This improved the Dukes dual meet record to 7-0, and dropped the Herd’s dual meet record to 7-2. This weekend also marked the seventh straight victory that JMU has had over Marshall.

JMU book-ended the meet by seeping the relays. To start, the Duke’s team of Courtney Clarke, Katie Parker, Cameron Martin,  and Carli Molano won the 400 medley relay by nearly two seconds. They proceeded to close the meet out with another win in the 200 free relay with the team of Kristen Zielinski, Quinn MacMillan, Molano and Camilla Czulada– who touched at 1:35.41.

With regards to individual performances, The Herd took eight wins against JMU’s six. The Herd had a strong showing in the distance events. In the 1000, they took the first, second and forth spots with Anna Lynch (10:24.72),  Savannah Ruedt (10:25.66), and Emma Lockyer (10:32.88).  Lynch went on to take second in the 500 free to teammate Madi Pulfer (5:05.88 to 5:03.44). Pulfer also won the 200 free (1:52.62). Other event wins for The Heard included:

  • Chloe Parsemain – 100 back (57.81), 100 fly (56.76).
  • Caroline Wanner– 200 fly (2:03.70), 200 back (2:02.95), 200 IM (2:05.66)

Right now Parsemain holds four top-20 Conference USA performances for this season. Wanner is sitting with five events in the top-20.

James Madison was lead by Zielinski who- in addition to her relay performance- won two individual events. She took first in the 50 free in a 24 flat and the 100 free in 51.87. She also pulled out a third place finish in the 200 free (1:53.28). Parker and Amanda Presgraves also had a strong showings in their individual races, trading wins in the breaststroke events. Parker took the 100 breast in 1:06.17 to Presgraves’ 1:06.40. Presgraves got the win in the 200 breast 2:21.46 to Parker’s 2:22.27. Parker would also to take second in the 200 IM.

JMU also received the top two spots in both the 1 and 3 meter diving events with Olivia Lehman edging out teammate Carly Alexander in both disciplines.

JMU’s diving team will return to competition on January 30th against Clemson, while their swim team will be back in the water February 5-7 at North Carolina. The Marshall Herd returns to action January 30th in a tri-meet against Vanderbilt and North Florida
