Jaeddan Gamilla, Kimani Gregory win three apiece to close NASA Showcase

On the final day of the NASA Showcase Classic in Clearwater, Florida, 9-year-old Jaeddan Gamilla and 13-year-old Kimani Gregory each tripled up on event wins.

The short course yards meet splits events by specific age, with ages 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 each getting their own age bracket, plus a separate group for 9&unders.

Maverick Swim Club’s Gamilla swept all three individual events in the 10&under age group, taking the 200 IM (2:21.55), 100 fly (1:03.61) and 50 free (27.24).

Gregory, meanwhile, won all three events he swam, which accounted for three of the four events offered for 13-14s. The Pittsburgh Stringray took the 50 fly (23.43), 100 breast (1:00.29) and 200 free (1:46.74).

A number of other athletes won two events each to cap off the meet. In the boys 11-12s, a pair of swimmers doubled up. 11-year-old Colton Frantz took the final two events of the night. The Sarasota YMCA Shark was 1:55.79 to win the 200 free and 1:09.13 for the 100 breast title.

Then in the 12-year-old heats, Aquastar’s Christopher Hardt went 1:02.70 to win the 100 breast and added a 4:16.38 win in the 400 IM.

For the girls, Westchester’s Joy Jiang took a pair of events in the 11-year-old division. Jiang was 4:35.95 to win the 400 IM and 26.71 for the 50 fly title. Second behind her in both events was Swim Neptune’s Asia Minnes, who won the 100 breaststroke later in the meet in 1:08.30.

One age group up, 12-year-old Chase Travis took the 400 IM (4:23.78) and 200 free (1:52.62) for a double of her own.

And one age step up from that, 13-year-old Olivia Bray of the Virginia Gators double, pairing the 400 IM (4:23.56) with the 50 fly (24.75).
