ESTHERVILLE, Iowa –  The Iowa Lakes Community College Athletic Department announced today that Todd Peters was hired as the new Head Swimming and Diving Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s teams.  In addition to his role as the Head Swimming and Diving Coach, Peters will also be an Enrollment Coach with the Admissions Department on the Emmetsburg campus.

“We are very excited to add Todd to our coaching staff. He is very knowledgeable, is a great teacher, and contains the skills needed to recruit the right type of student-athletes to Iowa Lakes. We look forward to this year’s swimming and diving season and to seeing what type of program Todd will build”, commented Athletic Director, Troy Larson.

Peters is replacing former head coach Miranda Anderson and brings a great deal of coaching experience to Iowa Lakes.  During his time at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Peters built the swimming and diving program from the bottom up and coached individuals at the NCAA Division II National Swimming and Diving Championships.  Peters holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from NDSU and a Master’s in Business Administration from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

When asked why he chose Iowa Lakes Community College, Peters stated, “What sold me was the athletes.  They were passionate, excited to work hard, and had lofty goals.  They knew what they wanted and were searching for someone to lead them to success.  After a one-hour question and answer session with the team, I was excited to work with them”.

The Iowa Lakes Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving team are scheduled for their meet of the season against Iowa Central Community College and Barton Community College on October 5.
