Kevin Tyrrell has been officially named the head men’s swimming and diving coach of the Harvard Crimson, per the Harvard website.
Tyrrell just wrapped up a complete season as essentially an interim head coach (read about his appointment here), leading the Crimson men to an Ivy League Championship after the late summer departure of former head coach Tim Murphy to Penn State.
Prior to that, Tyrrell was an assistant coach under Murphy for four seasons, and has an extensive international coaching resume including serving as the head coach for the Virgin Islands National Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Tyrrell is now the 8th head coach in Harvard men’s swimming and diving history.

No surprise here. He wins the Ivy title, something that had eluded Harvard for quite a few years, despite the last minuted departure of both the head coach and the team’s fastest swimmer.
