In-State Isabella Garofalo To Bolster Florida’s Sprint Corps

Isabella Garofalo, who swims just a little more than an hour away at Saint Augustine Swim Team, has committed to the University of Florida. Garofalo has been a state finalist in Florida 1A every year of high school in both the 50 and 100 freestyle:

  • 50 freestyle- 23.23
  • 100 freestyle- 51.30
  • 200 freestyle- 1:54.90

Garofalo has also qualified for Winter Juniors on the basis of her strong performance in the 50 freestyle this past summer, where she recorded a 26.88 in LCM. She has improved every year in those events and the upswing continues even this fall. She recorded a NISCA All-American Automatic time just two weeks ago at the 1A Region 1 Championships.

“I chose the University of Florida because of its amazing coaching staff, close knit team dynamic and reputation for academic excellence”

While Garofalo has some improvement to make in order to be an SEC scorer, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that she could get down to the times that it took to score in her best event in 2015. The 24th place preliminary time in that race was 22.83 this past winter.

Garofalo is also a top student, she has been named Valedictorian at Saint Joseph Academy Catholic High School. She was named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America teams in both 2014 and 2015.
