In Briefs: Top-10 Recruit Hali Flickinger Earns World Juniors Bid, Narrows College Selection

While USA Swimming hasn’t yet announced their full FINA Youth World Championships roster, local news reports are starting to leak out some of the early selections. The first to be released was Hali Flickinger of York YMCA in Pennsylvania, who will be swimming in the 400 IM in Lima, Peru at the 3rd edition of the meet.

According to the York Dispatch, Flickinger, who is ranked no. 10 in the class of 2012 by CollegeSwimming.com, has also narrowed down her college selection. She will take official visits this fall to Indiana (who was the first to offer a scholarship), Texas, Florida, Auburn and Georgia. Indiana were the first to jump, and given their recent history in the 400 IM, the Hoosiers might be a big-time underdog pick in this recruiting battle. Allysa Vavra set the Big Ten Record last year multiple times as a junior, and Ashley Jones took 3rd at Big Tens for the Hoosiers.
