The Pro Duel Meet 1, which will be hosted by the University of Michigan on November 16th & 17th, has added two new swimmers to the lineup. This is a meet that will bring together some of the best professional, post-graduate male swimmers in the country for an all-pro dual meet between East and West.
This meet will be a bit of a homecoming for Chris Brady, who currently trains with Michael Phelps’ NBAC group in Baltimore under Bob Bowman. Brady was a 10-time Big Ten Champion for the Wolverines between 2006 and 2010, and served as the program’s captain during his senior season. The butterflier earned National Team honors this summer by way of his 5th-place finish at the USA Swimming National Championships in 52.50, and will be a part of the squad that will travel to Guadalajara, Mexico over the summer for the Pan American Games.
The other addition is Kenyan-born Jason Dunford, who swam collegiately at Stanford. Dunford is a former Olympic Record holder in the 100 fly, which is an event that he finished 5th in at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He’s by far the most decorated swimmer ever from Kenya, including 14 medals from the All-Africa Games, and a 2010 Commonwealth Games Championship in the 50 fly. While swimming in the NCAA at Stanford, he earned 19 All-American nods as a sprint butterflier and freestyler.
