Arkansas women’s swimming head coach Jeff Poppell has received a contract extension, according to the NCAA.

Poppell has had a ton of success in his 5-plus seasons at the helm of the Arkansas women’s team. He has taken the program back to the top-25 in the polls multiple times in his career, after a drought of more-than-a-decade, and peaked in 2009 when the Razorbacks took 5th in the SEC, which is their highest-ever finish.

Most recently, in the 2010-2011 season, Arkansas finisehd 24th in the CSCAA dual meet poll and 32nd at NCAA (with 12 points from sophomore Chelsea Franklin’s mile swim.

The Razorbacks are off to a hot start this season despite a very young squad. Last weekend, they took the Rice Invitational in Houston over Boise State and Rice, amongst others, in dominant fashion. That included 7 new pool records at the relatively-new facility, though many of those records were previously held by All-American studs from Texas A&M and SMU, among other places.
