After a wave of graduations swept five of eight 2017 NCAA finalists out of the 100 breaststroke pool for 2018, underclassmen, including Finland’s Arizona State swimmer Silja Kansakoski (pictured) have stepped right into the open lanes.
Houston won the Phill Hansel Invitational for the 2nd year in a row, breaking 4 more school records, and achieving 6 new NCAA B cuts.
The Houston Cougars broke 2 team records and posted 6 new NCAA B cuts while continuing to lead after day 2 of their invite.
There were 11 NCAA B cuts achieved on the 1st day of competition, 7 of which were achieved by Houston, the leading team.

As NCAA programs begin their all-important mid-year invite season this week, now is the perfect time to look at how fast swimmers will have to go to earn guaranteed and/or likely NCAA invites this winter.
The No. 5/12 NC State men’s & women’s swimming & diving team is set to take on several nationally-ranked programs at the Ohio State Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion from Nov. 17-19.
