Augusta, Georgia’s Katy Older has given her verbal accord to the University of Idaho for the 2015-16 season. Older swims for Aiken-Augusta Swim League and Lakeside High School.

“I am so thrilled to have committed to the University of Idaho! None of my friends nor my family have ever been that far west before, & it was by far the most beautiful place I’ve seen. I knew it was the place for me as soon as I saw the campus & met the team. I fell in love with not just the beauty but the positive environment the coaches, the girls, & even the whole school gave off. Go Vandals!”

At the 2015 Georgia GHSA 1-5A State Swimming & Diving Meet, Older finished 16th in the 200 IM and 22nd in the 100 fly. Her top events, however, are not contested at the high school level: 400 IM, 500 free, 200 back, and 200 fly. Older’s best times include:

  • 400 IM: 4:31.5
  • 500 free: 5:01.39
  • 200 back: 2:05.18
  • 100 fly: 58.28
  • 200 fly: 2:09.24

Older will be an immediate point-scorer for the Vandals at the conference level. Her top 500 free and 200 back times would have made their respective “B” finals at 2015 WAC Championships, while her 400 IM and 200 fly times would have been near the top of the “C” final qualifiers. Idaho finished sixth last year, just 25 points out of third place.
