The Nebraska divers travel to College Station, Texas on Thursday, Nov. 19 to compete at the Art Adamson Invitational. The divers will be competing from Nov. 19-21. On Thursday the women’s three-meter prelims will begin at 3 p.m. with finals occurring during the evening’s final session beginning at 6 p.m. The women’s one-meter event will begin at noon on Friday with the final immediately following. On Saturday the women’s platform dive will be held at noon.

Meanwhile, the Nebraska swimmers will travel to Topeka, Kan., on Friday, Nov. 20 to compete at the Big Challenge. That meet will be a three day long championship style meet that will feature five other schools. Preliminary rounds will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday with finals beginning at 6 p.m. on those days. On Sunday preliminary rounds will begin at 9 a.m. with finals beginning at 3 p.m. Joining Nebraska at the meet will be Kansas, Illinois, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Omaha. The Big 12, Big Ten and mid-major schools will be paired together representing their conferences and a conference champion will be crowned.
Nebraska has already competed against Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Kansas this season. The Huskers downed the Cyclones back on Oct. 9, 187-113. Nebraska was led by dominant performances in the sprint freestyle and diving events against Iowa State. Nebraska defeated Northern Iowa on Oct. 30, 150-88, and dominated the Panthers winning 12 of 13 events. Kansas defeated Nebraska when they met nearly two weeks ago with the Jayhawks notching a 180-119 victory over the Huskers.
Following this weekend’s meet Nebraska will meet up with Omaha for a dual-meet on Jan. 15 and host Illinois at home for Senior Day on Jan. 23. Nebraska competed against both programs last season defeating Omaha by a score of 187-107, while falling to Illinois 171-129.
Following this weekend’s meets Nebraska will back in action with the swimmers traveling to Federal Way, Wash., to compete at the USA Winter National Championships running from Dec. 3-5. Nebraska’s divers will be in action that same weekend competing in Iowa City at the Iowa Invitational from Dec. 4-6. Last Time Out: Huskers Fall Short Against Jayhawks
The Nebraska swimming and diving team dropped its dual meet to Kansas Friday evening. Despite strong performances in the spring freestyle and diving events, the Huskers fell to the Jayhawks, 180-119.
Taryn Collura led Nebraska in the sprint freestyle events earning victories in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Collura swam a time of 23.48 in the 50-yard freestyle and posted a time of 51.19 in the 100-yard freestyle. Alexandra Bilunas finished right behind Collura in the 50-yard freestyle racing to a second place time of 23.81, giving the Huskers the top two spots in the event.
Nebraska swept the top two spots in both diving events Friday evening against Kansas. Anna Filipcic led the way earning victories in both the one-meter dive (317.25) and the three-meter dive (307.88). Nicole Schwery notched a second place finish in the one-meter dive (271.73), while Francesca Giganti finished runner-up in the three-meter dive (267.00).
Katt Sickle was a strong performer for Nebraska. Sickle earned a pair of second place finishes against the Jayhawks. Sickle raced to a time of 1:53.06 earning her second in the 200-yard freestyle. She secured her final second place finish of the night in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.38.
Jordan Ehly led the way for Nebraska in the breaststroke events. Ehly captured a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.24. In the 100-yard breaststroke the sophomore finished in a time of 1:06.24, good enough for second place.
Jacqueline Juffer and Erin Oeltjen had strong performances for Nebraska in the backstroke events. Oeltjen took first place in the 200-yard backstroke swimming a time of 2:02.26. Juffer finished in second place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.25.
In the relay events Nebraska earned a pair of second place finishes. The 200-yard medley relay team of Juffer, Ehly, Oeltjen and Collura finished in a time of 1:45.30 for second place, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Deveaux, Oeltjen, Lindsay Helferich and Collura finished behind the Jayhawks with a time of 3:30.77.
