Arlington Aquatic Club’s Torri Huske and NCAP’s Phoebe Bacon continued to put up big swims on the last day of the 2019 NCAP Invitational in College Park.

In the 100 free, Huske dropped a 48.19 to win by almost a full second. That’s a lifetime best for her, taking out her old best of 48.70 from this past spring. Now, she ranks 21st in the 17-18 age group, which she just aged up into a week or so ago. Long Island Aquatic Club’s Chloe Stepanek touched in second (49.06), while 15-year-old Camille Spink of NCAP was third at 49.18.

Bacon, meanwhile, won the 200 back with a 1:51.97, off of her lifetime best 1:50.71. Second went to NCAP’s Caroline Bentz (1:57.07). It’s Bacon’s best time so far in the 17-18 age group, and she ranks 22nd in the age group now, a hundredth ahead of Olympian Katie Hoff. In the men’s race, NCAP’s Noah Rutberg took the win at 1:45.76, though he was a touch quicker in the morning (1:45.38). NCAP’s Brett Feyerick took second in 1:46.98.

In the 1000 free, NCAP’s Paige McKenna took four seconds off of her personal best to dominate the 1000 free, clocking a 9:31.93 to beat teammate Chase Travis (9:38.86). McKenna’s now tenth all-time in the 15-16 age group. Westchester Aquatic Club’s Claire Weinstein, just 12, posted a 10:06.67 in the event. She’s fourth in 11-12 age group history now.

Huske and Bacon clashed in the 200 IM, with the race coming down to the touch. It was Huske at 1:56.65 ahead of Bacon’s 1:56.79, with Greenwich YWCA’s Meghan Lynch third at 1:59.92. Huske split her race 24.93 / 29.50 / 34.54 / 27.68, and Bacon 25.21 / 28.92 / 34.85 / 27.81. Bacon’s backstroke leg got her ahead of Huske, but Huske was stronger over the breast and free legs to snag the win. Bacon took half a second off of her best, while Huske slashed almost two seconds off.

In the mixed 400 free relay, NCAP’s relay of 3:09.79 took two seconds off of the old 15-18 NAG record of 3:11.90 (Bacon was on that relay). Brett Feyerick (46.05), Landon Gentry (46.17), Erin Gemmell (49.00), and Spink (48.57) combined for that swim. Feyerick is 16, and the others are 15, making this also the new 15-16 record.

That NAG record for 15-18 mixed 400 relay should also count for the 15-16 NAG record, correct?
