The Houston Swimming & Diving team took home 10 first-place finishes in a 174.50 – 122.50 rout of Colorado State, Friday evening at Moby Pool.

The Cougars got off to a great start winning the first four events. Laura LaderouteRebecca CoxPeyton Kondis, and Zarena Brown teamed up for a top finish in the 200 Medley Relay, posting a season best 1:43.31. Reese Lamph finished first in the 1000 Freestyle (10:31.58), followed by a first-place finish in the 200 Freestyle from Brown with a time of 1:51.96.

Laderoute notched her second win of the day in the 100 Backstroke, finishing in 56.63, while Mykenzie Leehy posted her second fasted time this season in the 100 Freestyle (52.90) to finish first.

Eleanna Koutsouveli earned Houston’s sixth top finish of the evening in the 200 Backstroke
(2:02.96), and was followed up by Brown with her third win of the meet in the 500 Freestyle. Brown led the field with a time of 5:04.09.

The Cougars finished out the day with its second-best time this season in the 400 Freestyle Relay to finish first in the event.

Houston swept the diving events, with Micaela Bouter and Lauren Burrell taking first and second-place in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter springboard events.

“I’m very proud of this group tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka. “To win on the road against a tough and talented team is exciting. We raced hard at altitude and under difficult circumstances. I could not be more proud of our grit this evening”.

Three Rams notched individual victories, but the Colorado State swimming & diving squad fell to the visiting Houston Cougars 174.50-122.50 on Friday evening at Moby Pool.

Sophomore Marie Goodwyn, Senior Rowan Hauber and freshman Maddie Ward all picked up individual victories for the Rams:

  • Goodwyn:
    • 200 Butterfly – 2:05.13
    • 100 Butterfly – 56.97
    • 200 IM – 2:06.33
  • Hauber:
    • 50 Freestyle – 24.20
  • Ward:
    • 100 Breaststroke – 1:04.52
    • 200 Breaststroke – 2:20.28

Goodwyn has won both the 100 and 200 Fly events in all four meets that CSU has competed in this season.

Junior Tonicia Thomas picked up a second-place result in the 200 Backstroke (2:04.42). She also placed third in the 100 Backstroke. Senior Colleen Olson tied for second in the 100 Freestyle (52.92) and was third in the 200 (1:55.25). Junior Ida Donohue added another third-place result in the 1000 Freestyle (10:42.90).

In diving, freshman Skylar Williams put up the Rams’ top scores in both the 1- and 3-meter dives, including a season-best 242.70 in the 1-meter.

NEXT UP…
CSU’s swimmers will visit Houston this time, for the Phill Hansel Invitational Nov. 16-18. Meanwhile, the Rams divers will be at the Northern Arizona Diving Invite from Nov. 17-19.
