CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams earned a sweep of the weekly diving awards from the SCIAC, the league announced this afternoon.

Junior Kendall Hollimon was named the SCIAC Men’s Diver of the Week for the Stags, following his first action of the season after studying abroad in the fall, while senior Jacque Desmond was named the SCIAC Women’s Diver of the Week for the Athenas, the third time this year that she earned that distinction.

Hollimon, who earned All-America honors as a sophomore last year, swept both the one-meter and the three-meter diving events in a dual meet against Westminster (Pa.) at Axelrood Pool on Sunday. Westminster came in with an All-American of its own in sophomore Connor May, but Hollimon was able to cruise to a win in the one-meter and edge out May in a close battle in the three-meter. A year ago, Hollimon was fourth in the NCAA Championships in the three-meter, while May was one spot behind in fifth.

Desmond picked up the SCIAC Diver of the Week Award for the third straight week in which she competed, after winning the one-meter event in a field of 11 divers (representing CMS, Westminster and La Verne). Desmond previously won the one-meter in a tri-meet with Occidental and Caltech on Nov. 17, and in a dual against Pomona-Pitzer on Dec. 1, giving her one-meter wins in three straight meets against Division III competition, resulting in SCIAC Diver of the Week honors each time.

CMS will be back in action when it travels to Whittier on Saturday for a 10 a.m. meet, resuming SCIAC competition again for the first time since Dec. 1.
