Hoch Repeats As Conference Swimmer Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s female swimming and diving honors for the week ending Oct. 18.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Maddie Hoch • Jr. • SMU
Hoch served as the top point earner for the Mustangs at the 22nd Annual SMU Classic over the weekend. In a field of several 2015 NCAA participants, the senior received 39 of SMU’s 244 with runner-up finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle. Hoch produced a NCAA ‘B’ standard time in the 200 free (1:47.48), finishing behind Mallory Comerford of Louisville who produced the top time in the country (1:45.19). In the 500 free, Hoch touched the wall with a time of 4:48.81. She currently holds the fourth-best time in the country. Hoch also registered a fourth place finish in the 200 butterfly and swam lead-off on the fourth place 800 freestyle relay team.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Sams • Jr. • East Carolina
Sams captured the 1-meter diving event and produced a runner-up finish off the 3-meter board at the Navy Tri-Meet on Oct. 10. The junior edged out Julie Jesse of Navy by two-plus points to earn the win for the Pirates. In the 3-meter competition, Sams fell just short of a sweep as she produced a score of 260.25 while Jesse had score of 262.65.
