Nathaniel Allen of Strake Jesuit College Prep in Houston, Texas and Swim Houston Aquatic Club has announced that he plans to swim for the Florida Institute of Technology in the fall of 2019. A swimmer whose primary events revolve around the IMs, Allen will be joining a FIT Panthers team that finished 13th place at the 2019 NCAA Division II Championships.

Right away, I fell for the team’s familial culture and their overall high-energy as they pushed each other to be the best they could be. I can’t wait to join them next year to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida Tech! Go Panthers!”
Allen was the 100-yard freestyle champion at the 2019 Gulf Swimming Short Course Championships (47.57) and took home bronze medals in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.25) and 100-yard backstroke (53.60). At the 2019 Florida High School 6A Region 4 Championships he took 6th place in the 100-yard backstroke (54.61) and 7th place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.11).

- 400 IM – 4:09.32
- 200 back – 1:54.17
- 200 fly – 1:56.86
- 200 free – 1:42.76
At last year’s Sunshine State Conference Championship meet it took a 4:06.32 to qualify for the ‘B’ final in the 400 yard IM, 1:54.79 in the 200 yard butterfly, and 1:54.49 in the 200 yard backstroke; Allen’s career-best 200 yard freestyle time would have secured him a spot on the Panther’s ‘A’ 800 yard freestyle relay as well. Allen will be joining Alex Kidd and Noah Emerson as members of the Class of 2023, with Kidd being a fellow IMer/backstroker.
